05:16 - Apothecary Also, I wouldn't call Zeppelin JUST hard rock/proto metal either, they were also quite bluesy and very folk-influenced, so there's also that to consider as well
05:13 - Apothecary I would consider Deep Purple and Zeppelin as PROTO metal at most. It was really Sabbath that developed the dark, heavy, riff-driven style that is now essentially the core staple of the entire genre
05:05 - deadone In other news, nothing gets one out of the sadness from attending a funeral like thrash fucking metal. It's that ugly kick in the face that one needs to get out feeling sadness.
05:03 - deadone Even Sabbath didn't play "pure heavy metal" - lots of heavy blues and rock n roll here even on early stuff. In any case Zeppelin are far more metal than half the shit that gets labelled metal these days.
05:00 - deadone Led Zeppelin have always been regarded as one of the first heavy metal bands - indeed the Holy Trinity is Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin. What they played did differ from modern metal.
04:34 - Apothecary I saw Led Zeppelin labeled as metal and that was my queue to stop taking whoever wrote that article seriously
04:25 - Maco That actually looked rather cool, Dima.
The grindcore band Gaza announced today on their Facebook page that they have broken up writing "Gaza is no longer a band. A big thank you to anyone that has supported us. Some of us will continue to make music together."
Gaza found themselves in a wealth of controversy earlier this year when their vocalist Jon Parkin was accused of rape by a young woman. Whether or not this incident was related to their breakup was not disclosed by the band.
Gaza released three full lengths and one EP during their 9 year career as a band.
