Godflesh - US Tour Dates Confirmed

Godflesh mastermind Justin Broadrick has recently announced that the band will do a string of US shows in October. These dates are final, no other dates will be added to the tour and you can check them out below. Nails (on select shows) and Prurient will be joining Godflesh on these dates.

In March of 2013, Justin Broadrick said that the new Godflesh album would be called A World Lit Only By Fire.

Asked in a recent interview if the new album would be released in November, he said "I hope so, yeah. It will probably be January though... 2021. (laughs) No, it will happen. We've written half of it. We've got half of the album."

Regarding the album, he stated: "It's really minimal, unforgivably brutal, but really psychedelic. Erm... I think ultimately, it's just really minimal. It's just reduced. It's like the early Godflesh records where it's essentially heavy metal reduced of all of its bullshit. It's heavy metal strict to its absolute basic core of just pure rhythm, without any of the attitude, the ego, the fulliness, the progressiveness, none of that. It's just utterly reduced to blocks of sound and for me it's getting back to the roots of why I made this music. Because it's not based on any form of technical ability, it's not based on some fucking Judas Priest record. It's trying to capture something pure again. Reforming Godflesh like I was saying, is mainly getting back to feeling like that confused child again, which I have done all the fucking time, but it just reminds me of how important it is to make something that feels like it is so connected to you and so a part of your entire physicality and everything in your head."

Seeing Godflesh, Nails, and Prurient in one show... now that would be something. Too bad they're not coming anywhere close to me. Either way, very excited for the record.

Prurient being on this bill is very odd to say the least, but fantastic all the same. Not sure how the general audience would take to him though.

I will be there. Godflesh and I go back decades now, yet I've never seen them live. Time to rectify that!

Shame they aren't coming anywhere near here. at least i did get to see them open for Type O and Danzig back on the Selfless tour. driving 100+ mph home on the dark freeway with one headlight out (died en route) was fun.

not worth it. haha.

it's roughly 500mi, which Google states is 7 hours. That cannot be right. Freeway is easily 80 safely the entire way (barring accident), but LA itself is just a parking lot the size of a small European country.

i haven't been to Hell-A in near 20 years and have no intention of ever going back.

LOL! But yeah... it's pretty true.

I really enjoy certain neighborhoods of LA quite a bit but yeah, the traffic during NON-rush hour was reminiscent of the zombie apocalypse so I can only imagine what horrors rush hour brings.

A World Lit Only By Fire? Seriously? That's a really good book already...

How original, Broadrick.

Why I did not get notification on this news? I am obviously not able to go to show but it is not the first time that I miss the news of one of my fav bands.
Anyway, good for those who can afford it
