King Crimson - Robert Fripp Announces Return Of The Band

An astonishing surprise in the music world today as Robert Fripp has announced on his online diary that the legendary prog band King Crimson are back in motion. On September 6th 2013, Fripp confirmed King Crimson's newest iteration, stating that "this is a very different reformation to what has gone before: seven players, four English and three American, with three drummers. The Seven-Headed Beast of Crim is in Go! mode". Now revealed, the 8th incarnation of King Crimson will be Gavin Harrison, Bill Rieflin, Tony Levin, Pat Mastelotto, Mel Collins, Jakko Jakszyk and Robert Fripp.

Fripp notes: "The Point Of Crim-Seeing was of a conventional Back Line - Gavin Harrison, Bill Rieflin, Tony Levin and Pat Matstelotto - reconfigured as the Front Line, with Mel Collins, Jakko Jakszyk and myself as Back Line."

Robert goes on: "All the Crims have expressed great excitement at the return to Go! mode. Given the considerable commitments of all members, it will take a year before Crimson is able to perform."

Robert Fripp expects that they'll be rehearsing, in full and small group formations over that period.

The King is back.

Last regular album by King Crimson was amazing, so I'm hoping for a new one

Same here, kinda confused. And Fripp said not so long ago that he would "quit music" because he lost his faith in the industry or something... certainly wasn't expecting this.

Maybe he found a label that would support his vision more readily (like Kscope or something). I don't know how to feel about it either, but hopefully it leads to a great album.

This is cool but why is it being reported here? King Crimson aren't a metal band.

They are the grandfathers of the "progressive" genre and they were a big inspiration for many metal bands. They are LEGENDS - for rock, for metal, for the whole music industry

Fripp will always make music, whether he goes solo or makes music with his friends, or reincarnates KC. The fact that he is pissed at the music industry is no surprise, many musicians are.

Maybe they will not make an album and just tour. We'll have to wait and see.
