Slayer - Playing Old-School Set On N. American Tour

You can expect an old school set on all the dates of Slayer's five-week North American tour, which kicked off yesterday at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. On this tour, the band will be paying tribute to guitarist Jeff Hanneman.

"We're having such a great time rehearsing this 'Old School' set, we've decided to play it on every one of our upcoming tour dates," announced Slayer's Kerry King.

Slayer, vocalist/bassist Araya, guitarist Kerry King, drummer Paul Bostaph, and Gary Holt, still filling in for fallen founding guitarist Jeff Hanneman, have been rehearsing many of the band's most classic and fan-favorite songs, all of which were originally written and released between the band's inception and the 1990 Gold disc Seasons In The Abyss.

Slayer's "Old School Slayer Night" set will include tracks from 1983's Show No Mercy, 1985's Hell Awaits, the genre-defining Reign In Blood (1986), 1988's South Of Heaven, also certified Gold, and Seasons In The Abyss.

"The final set list is still coming together," added Araya, "but we're going to give the fans what amounts to 'decades of aggression.' It's going to be a great night of music and moshing for everyone."

Slayer's new album is in the works and in a recent interview Tom Araya stated that the band has two full songs featuring Hanneman, which may be featured on their next album.

As long as they don't do a Jeff Hanneman hologram, I'll be happy.

Music was my life, music brought me to life and music is how I will be remembered long after I leave this life. When I die there will be a final waltz in my head that only I can hear.

They should just play Show No Mercy and Hell Awaits considering they already play most of their other tracks. I'd find that to be quite sick.

Well holograms of dead musicians has been the trend at music festivals of late (granted Slayer's touring and the festivals in question host a completely different genre of bands/musicians), so as long as that doesn't happen, all will be right with the world.

Dumbass shit mang. The first year I went to RTB, the Wu Tang Clan did 36 Chambers in its entirety with ODB's first born son. That shit was legendary. They fuckin ruined shit this year when they did Eazy E and ODB holograms. And they further ruined it by having breakbeat artists n shit there. It'd be like having Diana Ross and Earth Wind & Fire at Wacken or Hellfest.
