A major fire in Hamburg, Germany has destroyed the Hammer Studios of Eike Freese, Kai Hansen and Dirk Schlächter. The studio has burnt to the ground, so have the rehearsal rooms of the Hamburg bands Gamma Ray, Dark Age, Brothers In Arms, ChainReAction, Black Hawk, A Million Miles, Sambódromo, Kamizaraky, The Golden Creek and Cate's Leila, of which many didn't have insurance for their equipment. Luckily, nobody was injured severely although some people suffered slight smoke poisoning and two people barely made it out of the burning building.

If some bands feel like participating in benefit events (a festival is already in the making), there's this group.

Holy crap. I live in Hamburg at the moment and I had absolutely no idea about this massive fire. Looks like it's going to be the talk of the town for a while. Really sorry to hear about that.

Things can be replaced, people can't. Not good, but could have been disastrous if someone killed.
FeskarN - 21.11.2013 at 23:59
Glad that anyone didn't get hurt. Hope they can get their studio going again soon.
Azarath - 22.11.2013 at 00:37
Yes, the important thing is that nobody got hurt.

No need to cry and there's
No need to die
'cause all we need is love, there is
No need to cry and there's
No need to die
'cause the world keeps turning on

Yeah, good that everyone's safe now. Hopefully they'll get to replace their equipment rather quickly.

New "smoke on the water" coming??

Take a guess where Deep Purple's latest live album - including "Smoke on the Water" of course - has been mixed and mastered...
