The Ocean - Announce New Guitarist

The Ocean have been going through many line-up changes lately. Guitarist Jonathan Nido and drummer Luc Hess announced they were leaving the band and now a new guitar player has been revealed. Damian Murdoch will be The Ocean's new guitarist for all upcoming shows and tours next year. Jonathan Nido and Luc Hess' last show was in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The band talks about the new guitarist: "32 years old, Australian born and bred but living in Vienna (and soon moving to Berlin), Damian is currently teaching guitar and playing songs with titles such as 'The Final Absturz' with his instrumental blues band, the Damian Murdoch Trio. We like that."

"He also surely knows how to play heavy stuff though. Here's the vid that first caught our attention:

... and that's the audition clip that made us invite him to Berlin to rehearse with us:

... and so we did, and found Damian to be not only a great guitar player who knew our stuff in and out, but also a fun dude to hang and drink with - and there we go, that's it, decision made! Ocean 3.0 is now complete. Tour announcements coming up next week!"

Wasn't really clear if he's a permanent member or not...sounds like he's simply touring with them

Nice to actually see the audition. Definitely going to check out more of his instrumental band, Funky Desert Rider sounded great.

Yeah I agree. I just think it's written weirdly while they meant to say he's a new member. On the metalstorm page of Ocean he is recorded as a band member.

Yea, I saw that and was wondering whether it was fair to assume that given the wording was off. Can't hurt I guess
