Slipknot - Part Ways With Drummer Joey Jordison

In the middle of the writing process of their new album, Slipknot have shocked fans by announcing that they have parted ways with longtime drummer and important songwriter Joey Jordison, now busy with a new project called Scar The Martyr. The band says this decision happened for "personal reasons" and they will move forward with the new album release next year. This is a big turning point for the band.

Slipknot has released the following statement: "To our Maggots and fans around the world, it is with great pain but quiet respect that, for personal reasons, Joey Jordison and Slipknot are parting ways. We all wish Joey the best in whatever his future holds. We understand that many of you will want to know how and why this has come to be, and we will do our best to respond to these questions in the near future.

It is our love for all of you, as well as for the music we create, that spurs us to continue on and move forward with our plans for releasing new material in the next year. We hope that all of you will come to understand this, and we appreciate your continued support while we plan the next phase of the future of Slipknot. Thank you, The Knot."

Guitarist Jim Root revealed earlier this month that he will sit out Stone Sour's early 2014 tour so that he can concentrate on writing music for the next Slipknot record.

Slipknot's long-awaited fifth album will be their first since 2008's All Hope Is Gone and first since the 2010 death of bassist Paul Gray.

HahaHaha! Saw this coming. Thank God, too. Slipknot has been a sinking ship for years that just needs to be sunk for good. I'd rather see Joey continue with Scar the Martyr as his main priority, than for him to have to put it on ice whenever Slipknot decides to do something.

This album should be their last. Slipknot had a good run and I think it's time to call it quits. Corey and James should focus on Stone Sour, they are getting better and better.

When your vocalist is more interested in a profitable rock side project and your renowned drummer quits a few years after your bassist dies... there really isn't much to hope for in the future from Slipknot. These guys have lost a lot of the momentum they had when they were releasing an album every 2-3 years and they seemed to have left their songwriting abilities in 2004.

Agreed entirely. Must be getting too much pressure from Roadrunner.

I can't blame Joey for quitting. He wants to continue and everyone else is not giving a shit about the band that got them to were they are right now. Good for Joey ?.. and FUCK Stone Sour, pure garbage IMO

I assume the list of potential (drumming quality wise) replacements will be a short one?

I'm not 12, but I know I will....

This news sucks giant donkey dick. I had no hope for a new album or whatnot, but I did want to catch them live one more time before they call it quits. And I don't think it's going to be the same without Joey.

The fans wants another IOWA! Give us a heavy record. Get Dave Lombardo or Gene Hoglan as your drummer and give us a heavy record.

I agree with troy. Slipknot hasn't been the same since Iowa. Where the fuck did that album go. Bands just don't get it. Ozzy has been the same for years, so has Megadeth, Slayer and Metallica and Iron Maiden. Why the fuck do bands just give up. Stone Sour sucks cock, and the band to change the music industry is falling apart. Scar The Martyr is the best thing to happen to Joey; and seems to be the only intelligent one from the band. RIP #1
