Metallica - Share Full Antarctica Concert In HD

Remember when Metallica announced that they would be playing a show in Antarctica? Now the band has shared footage of the entire concert where they played for a small group of fans and you can watch the whole thing in HD below. On December 8th, 2013, the band set a world record by becoming the first and only band in history to perform concerts on all seven continents in under a year. Unfortunately, they didn't play "Trapped Under Ice". A missed opportunity.

They couldn't even be bothered do Trapped Under Ice, The Struggle Within, Orion or even Escape? Anything related to the cold???
What aload of shit...

What a load of shit you're saying... Why would they HAVE to pick songs that refer to cold? The setlist is great. But if you're a hater, nothing will satisfy you.

After watching this, I can't tell if that structure their in is meant to help keep them warm? It appears that there's nothing seperating them from the elements. Anyone know? Just curious.

Edit: I suppose theres clear plastic over the dome or something, it would be waay to cold to be hanging out underdressed.

I'd be superstitious enough to not play "Trapped Under Ice" on Antarctica... that'd be like playing "Raped By Elephants" in the middle of Africa.

I'd love to see the result of that in a newspaper...

It seems the band feel the same way we all do. No songs from after the Black Album on the setlist. Surely that is quite telling.

Not bad! This is probably the most intimate show Metallica has played in a while. It's a nice performance for sure.

I've seen Mastodon 3x... once opening for Slayer in Miami, once opening for QotSA at the Nokia Theatre in LA, and once opening for Dethklok at the Paladium if I remembered correctly... one of the best. Metallica once absolutely ruled for me but my musical interests is a beast onto its own and I've drifted away from listening to them and desire to see there shows (I did watch Creeping Death through on the vid above though to see the spectacle). But there may be a time again to revisit them with renewed interest. Wow that was a boring story. Sorry.

The Struggle Within related to the cold?

One associated idea of a tune for them. Anything that I could think of regarding a theme to do with being under the cold and /or freezing conditions.

Then its YOUR problem they have not played Struggle, it´s band fault.
You could ONLY blame them for Trapped.

Actually there is 3 songs from the black album on the setlist, with 2 conveniently placed to kill the momentum right near the end

Clearly it was to kill momentum, so they could then emphasise the beastliness of SaD.

Why the big deal of playing in Antarctica?

How about a new album instead?

I think I'd rather have them play in Antarctica.

Tour by tour and concert by concert it is affirmed more and fucking more .. METALLICA have lost their talent. ... i still love them to hell .. but as you can see, every concert has, if not 100% atleast 90% of the setlist being from black album and before .. ... isnt that funny? those who say metallica are gods, are fools, they have lost their will to write good music after and justice for all, and these years prove this ... i know this post has nothing to do with the concert it self, iam waiting for it to buffer a bit before blasting my head with awesome music, but just wanted to share this after seeing the set list. lol ..

When they do short, special shows, they usually only pick older songs. If you look at set lists for their 2 hour shows, they usually throw in a song or two from the Load era and a song or two from Death Magnetic. When Death Magnetic was first released, their sets had 5 or more songs from it. This show wasn't about promoting new stuff or the band picking their favorites. It was a crowd pleaser and they took the safe bet by picking "classic" songs.
