Tuomas Holopainen - Solo Album Tracklist And More Revealed

Having previously introduced his solo album The Life And Times Of Scrooge, Nightwish composer and keyboard player Tuomas Holopainen has now unveiled more about his first solo album due out on the 11th of April, 2014 via Nuclear Blast. The single "A Lifetime Of Adventure" will be released worldwide on February 7th and is available for pre-order via the Nightwish Shop (exclusive signed version). The cover artwork on both the single and the album is by Don Rosa, the illustrator of Disney's Duck characters.

Recorded from August to October 2013 at Angel Studios in London plus various locations around Scotland and Finland, The Life And Times Of Scrooge will include elements of the classical and folk genres in the vein of Vaughan Williams, Michael Nyman, James Newton Howard, and Enya. Pip Williams - who collaborated with Tuomas on the Nightwish albums Once (2004), Dark Passion Play (2007), and Imaginaerum (2012) - assisted with orchestral arrangements for the solo album.

The album will feature four lead vocalists: Finnish singer Johanna Kurkela, Tony Kakko of Sonata Arctica, Johanna Iivanainen, and Alan Reid.

Musical guests include: The London Orchestra, the Metro Voices choir from London, Nightwish's Troy Donockley (uilleann pipes, low whistles, bodhran), Mikko Iivanainen (guitars and banjo), Teho Majamäki (didgeridoo), Jon Burr (harmonica), and Dermot Crehan (solo violin).

I can see this being a massive guilty pleasure, but on the other hand is could be quite boring.

I'm kind of stoked for it because of him writing the music and because of the vocalists.

This would have been a great opportunity for Tuomas to do some singing again.

I'll be impressed if that ever happens again - he still seems to be traumatized from NW's early touring days. Then again, when Tony Kakko is one of your best friends, why waste your breath.

Yeah, I doubt that'll ever happen. But as someone who really likes Angels Fall First it would be interesting to hear him take a stab at it.
