Triptykon - Announce Revised Special Box Set

Recently, Triptykon's mastermind Tom Gabriel "Warrior" Fischer was vocal about his disapproval of Century Media's Melana Chasmata planned special box set and instead of creating a problem, the label actually listened to Warrior and changed the product to his liking. A new limited edition box set has now been announced for the band's new opus Melana Chasmata approved by Triptykon.

Triptykon and Century Media Records/Prowling Death Records announced a special limited edition box set of the band's second album, Melana Chasmata, containing the album's main Mediabook CD edition as well as a selection of unique Triptykon paraphernalia. The Mediabook features a 32-page booklet and an additional 12-panel fold-out cross-booklet; the paraphernalia comprises a silver Triptykon-"T" necklace, 2 specially manufactured Triptykon candles, a Triptykon tote bag, a poster, and 3 postcards.

The box set will be limited to 2000 copies worldwide. You can pre-order this edition as well as other formats over here.

Tom Gabriel Warrior says: "Some time ago, I voiced my personal disapproval regarding the original concept for the planned Triptykon Melana Chasmata box set as scheduled for release by our licensing partner, Century Media Records.

"It is to Century Media Records' credit that they listened and subsequently approached me to address my misgivings and create a box set that represents the group's ideas and intentions far more comprehensively. I am grateful for such an open and creative collaboration, and I deeply respect Century Media Records for sparing neither effort nor expenditure to please Triptykon and the band's audience. I wish record labels would have acted like this in the 1980s."

You can still stream two songs from the upcoming album right here or below.

I don't really get why this one is Warrior-approved?

Original contents of the box set that was dissed by Tom:
The album, a Triptykon silver pendant, a poster, postcards, a Triptykon tote bag, and a cap.

His exact words about this:
"CM have licensed the rights for the album and can thus market it as they wish, but that doesn't mean there are merits in such a limited edition venture. I personally feel it is in bad taste and does not represent Triptykon. All items which are officially issued by Triptykon (i.e., the mediabook CD, the pendant, and the tote bag) will be available separately through the usual outlets, so there is no need to support such a cheap and ill-fitting marketing venture."

But... substitute two candles for a cap, and suddenly he approves! Everything else in the box is _exactly the same_

Conclusion:
Everyone likes $$$, but when you publicly maintain an image of being anti-big-media and fan-friendly, you make even more $$$. Far more than he would have made at the Wacken gig he publicly turned down, and he knows it.
Just remember, kids... this is only an image.

Not sure he makes more $ with this change since a big part of $ done through album sales go to the label. And I don't see how this change might mean an increase in sales, if anything it was simply less when he asked not to buy it.

But it is weird to say this now.... maybe some "pressure" from the label, as they probably didn't find it funny that artists on the roster boycott their own products.

Maybe it was overpriced before? Maybe it was the way the art was displayed on the other items? Maybe these are special items that will not be sold separately as he stated they would have been before? Maybe it was a money thing? Who knows?
