Symphony X - Writing New Material

We haven't had many updates on Symphony X's new album. Their last album Iconoclast was already released back in 2011 and fans are probably curious about the next one. Recently, guitar virtuoso Michael Romeo thanked the fans who supported him in the Zimmer competition and for his birthday messages. He also added that he has been writing new material for the next Symphony X, "things are starting to come together as far as that goes. And so the cycle that is the creation of a new Symphony X CD starts anew."

For now, that is all we know, but at least it is something!

The band is scheduled to perform in Canada this year for the Heavy MTL Festival. Drummer Jason Rullo suffered a heart failure last year but is recovering well.

Hopefully better than the last two turds, but I doubt it.

As someone who didn't think their last two albums were turds, more like great releases, I'm really looking forward to a new album from these guys. I'm not expecting a return to the past. So, hopefully, they just continue to evolve.

I could do without updates like these. I'm assuming it's gonna take at least another year for this one to drop, so just give me an update when you have a release date, Romeo, you better be reading this.

yeah, I think these types of feeds are designed to just let us know the band is still a going concern and has a pulse...

First gig was Manowar (loincloths 'n' all), Bristol Colston Hall in March 1983, on the 'Hail to England' tour. Tickets were £3.75, 300 in the audience, Mercyful Fate never showed, but my hearing still got seriously trashed..

Rushing it is the last thing I'd ever want them to do. We know for a fact that everything they touch turns to gold but you have to spend the right amount of time getting it just perfect.

I was just thinking about Symphony X last week. Cool to hear that something new is in the works.
