Tracklist:

01. Prelude
02. Paien

The label says of the new album: "The most influential Black Metal band of the last decade is finally back, two years after the last full length album, Cosmosophy, the monumental conclusion of the unforgettable 777 trilogy. This time, far from its filthy industrial realm, the enigmatic entity offers nothing less than one of the finest melodic, epic and grandiose Black Metal album ever!"

Damn fine cover.

I don't care what any of you have to say about "generic melodic black metal," bring it the fuck on
Gothmog_Motsham - 27.08.2014 at 22:33
YES YES YES this looks tasty as fuck

But...there are trees and stuff, tress are cool. Aren't they?
Alex Fenger - 27.08.2014 at 22:38
It's a really generic/over-used theme for a cover, but it's decent nonetheless

Trees aren't nearly as cool as post-apocalyptic industrialized soundscapes that haunt your dreams.

Well maybe these are trees that survived in post-apocalyptic industrialized soundscapes. Trees can be pretty tough sometimes.

Necrolord's album art looks plenty organic to me. I'm just hoping it's not generic melodic black metal.

Well I guess BaN are one of the few bands left out there that actually know what they're doing. I have faith in this album for some reason.
Zaphod - 27.08.2014 at 23:35
Yeah, I don't like the cover either.

Just like the music of BaN on I, II and most probably III

MetalDoomMaster - 28.08.2014 at 00:35
Doesn't really fit in with the music they have been making lately, but if this sounds anything like the last two Memoria Vetusta albums, then I'd say it's a pretty damn fine cover.
Amatsu Mikaboshi - 28.08.2014 at 01:19
Luv me some Kristian Wåhlin

I didn't know he had been still doing album covers.... besides Ensiferum?
Marcel Hubregtse - 28.08.2014 at 01:28
Kristian Wahlin? Sigh... please the reiissue cover will be loads better than anything Wahlin can muster up. So will have to wait a couple of years before I will pick up this generic ru of the mill a dime a dozen melodic black metal album.

Really... BaN on their MV albums are generic and terribly average but Kris Wahlin is even worse when it comes to his cover artwork.
Desert Father - 28.08.2014 at 01:36
Love the cover to bits. Cannot wait!
Apothecary - 28.08.2014 at 01:57
Honestly though guys, what the fuck are you expecting as the cover for a melodic BM album? Tanks and black holes? Call the forest thing a cliche, but the fact is, it's a staple aesthetic of the style.

Kris Wahlin

Did he do In The Nightside Eclipse? Might be confusing him with someone else, but I'm noting a similar penciling style between that cover and this one.

He did do that indeed and imo it is the single most overrated piece of cover artwork EVER,

Overrated, maybe, but it's not like it's a particularly sloppy piece of work.

Maybe this will mean Blut Aus Nord realizing to finally never have to reissue another new MV cover in future.
Despite that, until now I've never really known any Wahlin loathe I guess...

Troy Killjoy - 28.08.2014 at 05:55
Take a drink every time Marcel refers to BaN's melodic black metal as average/generic - get alcohol poisoning.
Slayer666 - 28.08.2014 at 15:08
Nah, I prefer listening to BaN's meloblack as opposed to using it as an excuse to drink because, even though not genre-breaking or innovative, it's still top-tier stuff.
At least it's been like that thus far, hope this one doesn't disappoint.
God Alone - 28.08.2014 at 15:10
As far as I'm concerned, BaN make "generic melodic black metal" way better than 95% of generic melodic black metal bands nowadays, so... bring it on.

This. (and even 99% if you ask me ).

But I have the impression that for some people, if it isn't groundbreaking experimental industrial stuff, it can't be good.

I like how Vindsal alternates releases between the different styles, it gives it some freshness while remaining consistent coz he never truly departs towards a single formula. BaN would be much less interesting otherwise.
Mr. Doctor - 28.08.2014 at 15:29
The generic is strong on this one. It's ok.
Alien1988 - 28.08.2014 at 15:38
Well, only 2-3 'loud' users here refer to this side of BaN as "generic melodic black metal" so let's not make a thing of it. They'll have to suck it up and the rest of us will surely enjoy this.
Hallford9000 - 28.08.2014 at 16:01
Come on dudes. They have their style. Let them have it. Still better than most melo black bands.
deadone - 29.08.2014 at 07:51
That's a really nice cover and quite a refreshing one given the spate of shit cover art this year.
strade - 29.08.2014 at 19:23
The cover of MVII was utterly horrible, so I don't know why so many people are disappointed with this one. It's a big step up if you ask me.

That comment from certain users here (you know who I'm talking about ) is damn lame. Memoria Vetusta I especially is damn great. Sure TWWTG is the best I've heard from them, but their melodic BM albums are very nice as well.

So yeah, looking forward to this quite a lot. And that cover certainly is awesome.

Utterly horrible? That's the thing about art: it's all purely about opinions. I really like that cover actually. MVI's cover is very nice as well.

Which is stupid. Part of what makes Blut Aus Nord so good is that they've never been pinned down to one style, and each of their various sounds is pretty well composed

MVII: Generic nature artwork #13487 smothered in giant, gaudy typeface. It's a huge eyesore. I agree with you about MVI's art, however; it's a beautiful painting, and the logo is nowhere near as grating.
