Megadeth - To Be Off The Road For Most Of Next Year

Recently, Megadeth lost two of its members, guitarist Chris Broderick and drummer Shawn Drover. As of yet, mastermind and frontman Dave Mustaine has yet to talk about this but bassist David Ellefson has addressed the issue in a recent interview with The Classic Metal Show. The bassist explained that they plan to stick to their album schedule but will be off the road for most of next year.

David Ellefson said: "We are scheduled to go in and start a new Megadeth record after the first of the year, to release later in 2015 and touring to take on from there. So, in kind of an ironic way, if there's gonna be changes, it's definitely better that it happens when you're off the road than in the middle of a tour. So we're lucky. 'Cause we've had that happen over the years too, where members just, 'that's it,' they need to move on and they have to do it in the middle of a tour. Boy, that is really... You've really got your back against the wall. So we do have a little bit of a luxury of time right now."

He continues: "Megadeth is just never going go away. I realised that years ago. We've kind of outlived anything we thought we were going do - and, in a way, Megadeth has kind of outlived us. It's bigger than any one of us."

And he added: "It doesn't necessarily mean Megadeth is always going to be out there tour after tour, month after month, like we have been. At least certainly this next year, we're not going to be. We're definitely going to be off the road."

There has been a lot of speculation about who could be the new drummer and guitarist in Megadeth. Whom would you like to see join (or rejoin) the band?

First of all I don't want another "Super Collider"!
I think someone between Marty Friedman and Glen Drover is great for Megadeth, Megadeth doesn't need a virtuoso shredder!!!

Except for Dave's over-inflated ego.

There have been rumors of Chris Poland joining the band again, which, although I've wrote these guys off a long time ago, would certainly be interesting. He always was my favorite Megadeth guitarist, yes, more than Friedman.

Two totally different guitarists, and I can see why one would prefer Poland. He is of course a jazz guitarist (already at the time when he played in Megadeth)

Maybe Megadeth doesn't need a virtuoso, but when Broderick was at his best his ability to re-create those solos exactly in a live setting was mighty damn sexy... Unlike Glen Drover, who used to outright skip notes.
