Ensiferum - Reveal New Album Cover

As you know by now, Ensiferum have a new album coming out next year called One Man Army. Today, you get to see the detailed and mythological cover that will grace the album created by renowned illustrator Gyula Havancsák (Annihilator, Týr, Elvenking, Stratovarius etc). Feast your eyes on it below now while you wait for new music.

Their sixth studio album One Man Army was tracked between September and November of this year with award-winning producer Anssi Kippo (Children Of Bodom, Impaled Nazarene, Entwine etc.) at Astia-studio in Lappeenranta, Finland.

Sami Hinkka said of the cover: "On the new album, we took many things musically to the next level so we decided also to try something new graphics-wise. Gyula Havancsák who did phenomenal job! For the first time it was really nice to be more involved with designing the cover and all details. Our humble gratitude to Gyula for all the patience and really amazing results. We couldn't be more satisfied!"

Ensiferum's new record will be released via Metal Blade Records on February 24th, 2015. Further details, including tracklist and teasers shall be unveiled in the coming weeks.

I like it... looks like a Berserker. Just hope the music will become a little more furious again though.

Definitely see the stylistic resemblance to Tyr's latest cover. I do miss seeing Necrlord's art on Ensiferum covers though.
Excited to hear the music.

It's not an awful cover tbh. I've seen worse 'shopping. The theme is a bit lame though, and it's not a "One Man Army" when there's clearly another furry, bear-skinned bro helping out the main dude in the background (2 of them actually). Lies.

I kinda like it.

I reaaaally hope they've realized how underwhelming their last album was though, so that this one turns out better.

Agreed! I don't see the problem here. Furthermore, I quite liked the last album. Not sure what the issue with that one is either

As long as this is more of From Afar and less of Unsung Heroes, I think I'll enjoy it quite a bit.

I'm probably reading into it too much but It looks like the same guy at different points in time (same bearskin outfit).
As these "extra characters" are behind him, perhaps this is a metaphor for putting the past behind him?

Perhaps if he wasn't killing someone in the furthest and nearest incarnation I might accept that =P

Something else that supports my theory is that on the left you can see an army and on the right it is more empty, with just the character killing various people at various times.
The tree on the left is only catching fire where on the right is twisted and broken, showing the prelude (left side) and aftermath (right side) of a battle.
As the character is still standing at the front (most recent time), this suggests this character is untouchable and can beat full armies by himself which is where the title may come from.

This is a good cover to study!

The "one man army" is the guy on the ground who's got the axe of said-furry dude all over his face, and whose spirit can be seen ascending to a not-so-Finnish Valhalla.
