Very dark and slow black doom metal ,
doom?
Since when does orthodox black metal have anything to do with doom metal?
Good album though. Especially recommended to fans of Funeral Mist, Ondskapt, Verbum Verus and such.

If you listen more doom metal you see similar type of sound in the slow riffs and dark ambient , who cares if is orthodox or something else , the important here is the sound and its not typical black metal , theres doom there , i recommend to you listen more doom metal

I hear slow black metal. Just because something is slow doesn't make it doom.

it is slow, indeed (didn't have to click on the link since I already have this album for about two months now) but it isn't doom, it is slow black metal here. It misses the doom aesthetics and atmosphere.
Ascension play regular black metal, sometimes slowing down.

I am still wondering how it was possible that someone thought I was all worked up there.
Then they have never seen me worked up over something.

"Consolamentum" is a staple in my collection, so topping it would require a tremendous undertaking. I bought this when it was posted on WTC's bandcamp, and have had a chance to have a few listens. It's not as immediate as its predecessor, largely due to the overall slower tempo, upon which other users have already commented. That said, this is one of the most atmospherically oppressive and sinister black metal albums that I have heard, and this is accomplished with a lush, crystal-clear production.
As of right now I'd say this is ALMOST as good as "Consolamentum", and thus is obviously required listening for anyone into black metal. I need some more time to fully digest and appreciate the album, however. Also, though this was a much welcomed and anticipated late-game surprise for 2014, I would still solidly name Thy Darkened Shade's album as the best black metal album (and album, personally) of the year.
Favorite track: The Dark Tomb Shines (Holy shit...that middle part...)
P.S. This is one of those bands where the identities of the members are officially unannounced. Apparently Drakh from Katharsis is one of them. As a rabid Secrets of the Moon fanboy, I have a fairly good idea that Thrawn Thelemnar is their drummer. A lot of the drum stylings on "Consolamentum" are reminiscient of his work in SotM. Also, the band as a whole seems like a "what could have been" if SotM kept their style from "Carved in Stigmata Wounds" instead of morphing into their "modern Satyricon, but actually good" sound.

The vocals strongly remind me of those from Odem Arcarum, whose vocalist Michael "Arioch" Zech is also in SotM. Don't know that it's him for sure, but his vocal style in OA is very similar.
