Dream Theater - To Enter Studio In February
Singer James LaBrie of progressive metal giants Dream Theater has recently revealed to Simcoe.com that the band will enter the studio in February to create the follow-up to 2013's Dream Theater album which he said he expects to be released next fall. So, the proggers will soon begin work on their next album which will be their 13th already. Are you excited to see what the band comes up with next?
Furthermore, Labrie will appear at the Midland Cultural Centre in Midland, Ontario, Canada on January 14th. He will be in the spotlight as a guest of the ongoing "A Day in the Life" conversation series.

Feels like DT's getting a bit too formulaic in their approach. We have the 2 year wait again, then there'll be the usual touring routine. All I hope is that they try to do something new. I don't want "another SFAM" or "another I&W", because DT is best when they're doing something fresh. DT12 was them trying to give off the "classic DT experience", and it was disappointing because everything sounded the same. Just shake it up a bit, experiment, and don't make yourself a victim to what your crowd wants, because your crowd doesn't know what it wants. Every member of DT has incredible creative potential (looking at you, Jordan, with your symphonies and technological innovation), so why not use some of that creativity? Do something different, surprise me.

I propose the title: "Yet Another Dream Theater Album". Given the talent of the band members you'd think they could come up with something better than what they've been doing for the last... 4 albums? They've entered middle-age as a band and are content to churn out an average album every 2 years, and without Portnoy (yeah, I went there) they don't have anyone to push them out of their comfy little box. They really should have taken that break.

Wonderful event! I really hope that they will do something good. The last two alnums disappointed me much. Especiakky after Portnoy departure the dums sound very poor. I would dream of course to get something like "Awake" or "Images And Words".. But I suppose it is unreal(

I know getting a new ''Awake'' or even a new ''Octavarium'' is pretty much impossible, but hope this album is better than their latest one, which was average at best. Some fresh ideas may help...
