Jørn Lande And Trond Holter - Release New Video

Last year, singer Jørn Lande and guitarist Trond Holter (Jorn) announced that they have created a new rock opera concept album about the life of Count Vlad the III, Prince of Wallachia, widely known as Vlad. They will release the album Dracula Swing Of Death on January 23rd in Europe and January 27th in North America through Frontiers Music Srl. Well, now they have presented the first single and video for "Walking On Water" from their upcoming album. It is available for your viewing pleasure or displeasure below.

On the album, Jørn Lande - who impersonates the main character Dracula - shares lead vocal duties with Norwegian singer Lena Fløitmoen (representing Mina/Lucy from the Bram Stoker book). The duets feature Dracula and his women, which in the original Bram Stoker story is centered around Dracula's first true love Mina (when he was a human before he sold his soul to the devil and became a vampire).

Very promising. Haven't heard anything this good from Jorn for a long time.

He sounds great. Although I like his solo stuff, I think he always sounds better when he's part of a band, rather than being the face of the band. His vocals on the solo albums are fine, but they're just kind of there, like "yeah, that'll do." Compare that with his performances on, for example, Ark's "Missing You" or Beyond Twilight's "Crying" and he stretches himself much more.

Actually, thinking about it a bit more, if I was to try and rank the albums I've got with Jorn as vocalist (including guest spots), it'd be quite a long way down before I got to any of his solo albums.

Edit: I'm coming across as way too negative about his solo albums there. I have them, I listen to them, so I do like them, but the Jorn that's on these other albums is probably my favourite singer.

I think the problem with his solo albums aren't so much the vocals but the songwriting. The songs are too hard rock sounding. And his solo stuff just hasn't been the same since Pagan's Mind Jorn left.

Absolutely. Jorn's best work since "The Showdown" with Russel. His work is his simply amazing. A new Jorn classic.
