Mastodon - Announce Co-Headline Tour With Clutch

Now this could be a fun tour. Mastodon are joining forces with Clutch on a co-headline tour along with special guests Graveyard and Big Business - each taking part of the tour as support. The trek kicks off in St. Paul, Minnesota on April 16th. Tickets go on sale to the public on Friday, January 23rd. Check out the dates below!

Mastodon and Clutch share a longtime friendship as fans will recall Clutch front man Neil Fallon contributed vocals to "Blood And Thunder" (from Mastodon's 2004's Leviathan) so fans can expect surprises in store for fans throughout the tour rumbling across North America. The tour will feature full sets from both Mastodon and Clutch. Clutch will close the show on April 24th in Vancouver, May 10th in Pittsburgh, May 15th in Bethlehem, May 16th in Baltimore and also the final night of the tour, May 24th in Columbus. Mastodon will close all other shows.

The tour starts with support provided by Big Business. Graveyard will then take over the main support slot starting in Los Angeles on April 29th for the remaining dates, closing out the tour in Columbus, Ohio on May 24th.

That will be fun. shame Mastodon aren't as good live as on record... Clutch seem even better, though.

And the biggest shame about it all is that at the time of Remission and before that they were better live than on record which is of course an awesome feat since Remission is their best by far and a total classic. Shame how they went down the slippery slope when it came to live concerts later on

still enjoyed seeing them, don't get me wrong, but they had Baroness (Blue Record) on earlier. Baroness played such an awesome set that it made Mastodon's issues more glaring. had an inferior (live) band opened, might have a better impression of Mastodon.

I have seen Mastodon play with an inferior band openign for them when they really fucked it up majorly. And I have seen Mastodon live loads and loads of times (must be over 15 now) and only at the start of their career were they any good live. It seems like the fame and booze and drugs (?) fucked them up live later on.

I too have lost interest in seeing Mastodon live... they moved in directions to test their limits and failed.

When I saw Mastodon live, they opened for Dethklok.
Mastodon got a triple encore, while Dethklok played less than 45 minutes.

Needless to say, Mastodon did excellent that night, playing the entire Crack the Skye album.
Now, I have less interest in seeing them live. Although I really did enjoy their last album.

Now I will goto this because Clutch is coheadlining.
Cant wait to hear Blood and Thunder!

I saw them on the same tour and I thought they killed on stage, especially during the "encore" when they played a bunch of pre-Crack the Skye material. Clutch on the other hand, while one of my favorite bands, don't really do much for me live. Fallon and Gaster perform their hearts out but Sult and Maines just seem bored on stage and it translates...

Super excited about possibly seeing Graveyard and I love Big Business and am curious to see if Willis and Warren can bring the Melvins intensity without King Buzzo on the stage.

Edit: Never mind, I just read the part about Graveyard and Big Business being on separate legs of the tour. Oh well, I'll be sure to catch BB next time they tour the west coast.

Edit the second: I mean catch Graveyard if they ever come back stateside...
