Winterfylleth - Guitarist Leaves The Band

Manchester atmospheric black metal act Winterfylleth has sad news to share. They have announced the departure of guitarist Mark Wood. He decided to leave the band to focus on his personal life and other musical projects. For the immediate future, the band is continuing and have a close friend stepping up to fill in for Mark on the tour with Primordial and at Blastfest/Hammerfest, etc.

The band says: "Friends, unfortunately, we have some sad news to share with you today. Today, after many years with the band we say goodbye to our friend & long term lead guitar player Mark Wood. Mark has decided to leave Winterfylleth to focus more on his personal life, his solo ventures / other musical projects, and as such we part on good terms. Life has to come first sometimes and I hope you will join us in thanking Mark for all he has contributed to Winterfylleth over the years, wish him well and support him in whatever he does next."

Mark wanted to share the following with all the fans and friends of the band: "After three full length albums, a split EP with Drudkh and an innumerable amount of live performances across the UK and Europe, it is time I say goodbye to my long term friends in Winterfylleth. I am going to pursue my own musical direction and focus on the important aspects of my personal life. My other ventures with Battalions, Dogwood Flowers, Corroder and my solo project Guthrum will continue and I hope you all enjoy what is to come. There is some rather special news regarding Guthrum in the very near future. I would like to thank Chris, Simon and Nick for everything they have done over the last seven years. These have truly been some of the best years of my life and I wish them all the very best for what the future brings. I would also like to give a huge thank you to Candlelight Records - Darren, Steve, Connor and Edward for their guidance and support.

"To everyone who has shown their appreciation and who has followed the band I thank you all wholeheartedly - your support and accolades have been a huge driving force and I am truly grateful for the experiences and memories that have come from this time in my life. Onwards and upwards! Mark Gareth Wood."
