Cradle Of Filth - Debut Video For New Song

Extreme metallers Cradle Of Filth have just released a new video for the track "Right Wing Of The Garden Triptych", taken from their upcoming album Hammer Of The Witches. The group has chosen today to release a new song. Fans can get the first taste of the new album and watch the final product below. The clip was filmed in jet-engine testing hangar a former US military base near Ipswich. It's just the first song released, but does it sound promising to you?

The video was directed by Sam Scott-Hunter (Devilment, Slipknot, The 69 Eyes), who also took the band's promotional photos. As well as featuring Dani and his troop, model and Kinbaku enthusiast Gestalta also makes an appearance. You can also watch the uncensored version over on Vimeo here.

Front man Dani Filth commented on the making of the video: "The video for 'Right Wing Of The Garden Triptych' was an immense thrill to film as it was undertaken in a jet-engine testing hangar at a former U.S. Military base close to my home town of Ipswich, followed by an equally surreal afternoon spent under the aerobatic flightpath of the Imperial War Museum. Directed by Sam Scott-Hunter, the video is a realised phantasmagoria of horror and hell-bound heartistry, fully encapsulating the beautality of the first single from 'Hammer Of The Witches', and if my flagrant play-on-words doesn't pique your interest, then the fact that it features a renowned rope bondage queen and the band in full swing just possibly might."

Hammer Of The Witches, the British band's first opus in three years, is due for global release on the 10th of July via Nuclear Blast Records.

Now that is bad... Had some tiny hopes when Allender left cause the best stuff was without him (though he did a great job on Godspeed and his guitar work is a lot better), but this is just a fucking joke...

Same shit as always. This time a bit more gothic. This is hardly old school CoF.

Not really the direction I had hoped for them to go, but I'm glad it sounds like a somewhat fresh direction in any case. Love the presence of the instruments; the production seems interesting enough. Not as bad as I feared.

Well... That kinda sucked. It's like they were trying to throw in new influences but then just half-assed it and by 1:14 just reverted back to the same ol tired formula... Also the intro and that melody in general is all over the place.

I'm not a huge CoF fan, but I enjoyed this song. It had a bit of everything - symphonics, speed, aggression, melody, it was even a little proggy.

Since it's CoF, I'll expect nothing but ridicule on MS, but I enjoyed it.

Not as bad as I expected. The instrumentation is good, although Dani vocals are as bad as always. Maybe it's worth a listen

And change the god damn producer. Your albums sound the same since Thornography.

Ever since Thornography they had different producer/s for most of the albums following it. Just that lately Filth has been involved in producing the bands albums as well. The production on all the last 3-4 albums was good, what lacked was good songwriting. They manage to make some good tunes while others are mediocre or abysmal.

I went in expecting this to be complete shit because... well, it's Cradle of Filth. But, it turned out to be alright. People need to stop expecting them to sound like their old albums. It's not gonna happen.

I thought with different songwriters it would sound different, at least a little bit. I commend them on keeping a small bit of extremity in their sound but this sounds like someone, who was a fan, copied riffs throughout the years and threw them together to make a generic cradle of filth song. I don't know how the new people sleep at night bringing nothing to the table. Anyone could copy old mediocre riffs and make this song.

Verdict: It could have been worse...I won't be buying.

1. The sterile and gutless sound.

Yes! This! Too pure and clean, like in coocoon.

Tried to like it, listened it for like 10 times but no, this is not good... At least not as good as CoF can do... It has its moments, but it's sterile, dragged, with some really irritating parts... However, this is just one song, will check the whole thing when it's out, but my expectations are low now....

You totally stole my words ! I don't care about brainless comments like "this is CoF so this is shit". If you don't like CoF, just don't waste your time and ours with such comments. I like all CoF albums tho at different degrees except for Manticore which is totally uninspired but for a too few parts. Well this sounds like Manticore I'm afraid : a total mix between different influences, some I like, some I totally dislike... It ends up being such a mess that I cannot remember any melody from that track :/

Not quite out of topic tho, I really like Devilment's first album and still wonder why the band won't even appear here...

Funny the comments here, at youtube most comments are actually positive.
As for me, i didn't like it as well. The best word i can find to describe it is "soulless".
It's sterile, predictible and worst, it's annoying.
I'll wait to hear the whole album, but for now this is not promissing at all.

CoF have a tradition of picking the worst songs to promote their albums, so I'm still hoping that the album won't be utter crap.

Hope the other songs are better. I agree with the comments saying this sounds too sterile, flat, clean... whatever. It's like it needs some keys or something, i don't know By the way -- 3:22 Queen of winter, throned? Really? WTF?

I liked this. Even though I probably am the biggest CoF fanboy here, I still don't expect anything special from the new album. I like the last couple of albums, but I have no urge to return to them over and over again. Nice music for an hour, then I move on to something else.

But no one would be happier than me if I some day could give CoF a vote for "biggest suprise of the year" in the awards.
