The SLoT - Drummer Steps Down, Replacement Announced

Last week, Russian alternative metallers The SLoT revealed that longtime drummer Kirill "The Dude" Kachanov would be stepping down from the kit after 11 years of service. While they did not go into detail about the reasons for his departure, the band stated that they parted as friends and that they wish The Dude well in his future projects.

The Dude (whose nickname comes from the 1998 film The Big Lebowski) joined The SLoT in 2004, after the release of their debut album, and has played on every subsequent release. In addition, he has lent his talents to frontwoman Nookie's eponymous solo project and frontman Cache's project ModeM. While he has since stepped down from at least the latter role as well and has announced no new musical plans as yet, he does have a degree in experimental physics from the National Research Nuclear University (Moscow Engineering Physics Institute) to fall back on.

Meanwhile, he will be replaced for The SLoT's summer commitments by Vasily "Ghost" Gorshkov, a veteran of such bands as ANJ, Roman Rain, Akado, and Cache's own ModeM. Gorshkov previously toured with The SLoT in 2012 under the pseudonym Vasily Pupkin, filling in for a hospitalized Dude. According to the band's statement, Gorshkov will finish out the summer schedule with them, at which point they will decide whether to take him on permanently or continue searching for a full-time drummer.
