Amorphis - Release New Single And Lyric Video

Can't wait to hear new music from Amorphis? Fear not because it has arrived. In anticipation of their new record Under The Red Cloud (out September 4th via Nuclear Blast), the Finnish metallers just released the lyric video of the first single, "Death Of A King" featuring Chrigel Glanzmann (Eluveitie, flute) and Martin Lopez (Soen, ex-Opeth, percussion), today. Satisfy your curiosity by listening to the song below and give us your impressions.

Guitarist and founding member Esa Holopainen comments: "It was a great honor to have such talented musicians appearing on 'Death Of A King'. Each one of them puts his personality and character in the very right spot."

Classic formula of them, not bad but nothing special imo. Don't know why but the beautiful cover reminds me strangely to the legend of zelda ... I should stop smoking

Pretty predictable music from Amorphis. Will expect somehting more intuitive in the rest of the album.

Wow, that song was AWESOME! It has a very unique sound with the Egyptian inspired melodies and flutes. Sounded very fresh and unique to me. Can't wait for the new album!!

Flutes reminds me of the Elegy/Tuonela era and it's nice to hear some Middle Eastern influences again... While I don't expect something completely groundbreaking, if the rest of the songs keep up this album has got potential to become one of the best contemporary (post-Eclipse) Amorphis albums. Quite progressive sound, even though it's classic Amorphis.

I really like the ideas of it and the return of Eastern melodies is a nice element back in the fold - it feels like it's slightly lacking something tho - I feel like the growl sections and chorus could both have heavier backing music, it feels slightly muted. Certainly promising though, and given their track record I'm sure this will be at least another solid album, if not better, and this song gives me hope that there'll be a slight change in tone for the album similar to what they've achieved with the last couple, perhaps bringing a little of Elegy back this time, to keep the band sounding sufficiently fresh.

Awesome trippy song! I totally dig the sitar and flutes (reminds me of Elegy). I have a feeling this album will be another winner!

I LOVE it! Although they could have done away with the fluit... reminds me too much of Svartsot.
