Van Canto - Debut New Song And Video

As they prepare to unleash Voices Of Fire, German a cappella metal band Van Canto has unveiled another tune from it. The official video for the battle hymn "The Bardcall" can be seen below. The track will appear on the group's new album, which will be released on March 11th via earMUSIC. The official music video holds a special surprise to fans: two guest appearances by actor John Rhys-Davies ("Lord of the Rings") who on the album guides the listener through the story of Van Canto's music as a narrator and of course fantasy author Christoph Hardebusch.

The band has teamed up with German bestseller author Christoph Hardebusch ("Die Trolle" - English "The Trolls") in developing the story on which both the album and book are based on. Christoph's Hardebusch new fantasy novel "Feuerstimmen" is going to be released on March 17th, 2016 on Piper Verlag. The audio book for which Van Canto set the 18 bard songs from the book to music will be released on the same day.

Power metals vids.. always the same. This song is too typical PM, I haven't heard all of their stuff, but I know the band can do more creative stuff. Maybe this concept is putting them towards too serious approach. Well, I like the old stuff more.

I still think they should fire that drummer and hire a beatboxer instead.

I wasn't expecting much, but this is pretty good. The three vocalists who aren't singing the lead parts should definitely continue playing to their strengths and embracing the 'choral' approach instead of trying to imitate instruments - it works wonders for their sound. 'Guitar' solos can stay.

Why do you need to take it seriously? A vast amount of metal is cheesy, and in order to appreciate a lot of metal, one needs to appreciate some cheese.

Well, I agree that a vast amount of Metal is "cheesy" but, seriously, and I am not expert in Metal at all, why is this considered Metal in the first place

I don't mind cheesy music, or music that is supposed to be fun. But this is neither, im just perplexed as to how people can actually sit down and listen to it, to me it just sounds like a bunch of retards making noices over some drums and some singer, no fucking coherence or even a remotly solid sound at all. It just sounds empty, flat and boring.

I would recommend you just not listen to music you clearly don't like, rather than get your panties up in a bunch about it. Heh. Seems like a waste of time unless you really think random people actually care that you don't like it.

Acapella is most definitely music (semi-acapella with the drums) even by the definition of music. A lot of people find it to be fun, that's the whole point anyway. Why you so salty?

I haven't listened to Van Canto before; that was really boring. Not even due to the acapella-ness, it was just a really boring song, and the actual lyrics vocals weren't particularly great

I think I only listened to it because it kept appearing at the top of the news feed. Safe to say it was not my thing.
