Manowar - To Embark On Farewell Tour

U.S. metallers Manowar have some sad news for their fans today. They will embark on a farewell tour or what they are calling their "final battle". The tour will begin in Germany (with dates yet to be revealed) and take them all over the world to say goodbye to their fans. So, it seems like they are calling it quits, or putting down their swords, after more than 30 years as a band.

Here is their full statement: "The Gods And Kings Tour was a groundbreaking moment in our career. The stage, sound, video and you, our fans, were magnificent! Coming off such an amazing tour it was clear that the next time we must go even bigger and beyond anything we have ever done; something that will fulfill every Manowarrior's dreams. Then that will be the ultimate moment to say Thank You and farewell!

"The Final Battle will begin in Germany and take us all over the world to say goodbye to all of you.

"If you know Metal
you know Manowar.
If you know Manowar
you know Metal!

"Those who join this tour will be left with an eternal memory; having witnessed the band that has dedicated their blood, hearts, souls and every moment of their career to True Heavy Metal. We are calling all Manowarriors to prepare yourselves now and to join us for The Final Battle!"

What saddens me the most are the comments of probably young dumbass kids who can't appreciate the importance of this band to Metal.
Hope this tour comes through Portugal.

I'm not going to check Marce'ls age lol
Even if you're older, if you can't appreciate this bands importance, you're failing as a metalhead/fan/whatever.

Their first three albums, arguably first four albums were quite important to (US) power metal but nothing after that, even though those newer albums sold better.

This is sad news. Whether you hate the band or not. Manowar was big for the genre. They are a band that always valued their fans and tried to give bigger and better shows. I don't get the claims that they are "greedy for money" when they haven't sold out in such a way as to gain enormous amounts of money like other bands have. Totally unfounded, even if you didn't like their recent albums. Hail and Kill!

They are immensely greedy for money, or else they wouldn't ask such ridiculously high tickets prices for their live shows. Iron Maiden shows, KISS shows are cheaper than Manowar's shows and those shows are way bigger and better and cost way more to stage.

It's really quite hilarious how inflamed people are getting about this, on both sides. Especially Mr. Anti Manowar Keyboard Crusader up above. I really couldn't care less whether they exist or not

Manowar has had a great career. They've released a lot of great albums that i've very much enjoyed! Thing is, they haven't released anything good since Warriors of the World and most of what they did release has been rehashed content. I think its time for them to hang up the swords and let their work become their legacy instead of the band tarnishing it with bad live performances and re-recordings.

I'm getting tired of those FALSE farewell tours...

False farewell tours? iam pretty sure this is the only time Manowar have said that they are retiring

Nope, but knowing these commericial pop music whores they'll announce a reunion tour in two or three years time and even ask more for a ticket than their disgracefully high prices currently.

That's it! I wasn't referring to Manowar exclusively...

Back in 1998 I went to see Black Sabbath on their 'Reunion' (and last) tour. 20 years later they're releasing another album and embarking on their 3rd? 4th? farewell tour.
Same with Judas Priest and their TWO Epitaph tour. Then they released another album with its subsequent tour.
And some years ago same shit with Scorpions with a very succesful tour (with a lot of sold outs). Then they were back with another album aaaaand tour! All that because fans asked them not to quit. Come on!

I now business is business. Probably because Manowar is TRUE they solemnly call it quits but I wouldn't be surprised if in the near future they're back with a Return of the Kings Tour or some similar brilliant idea.

What I mean is that they shouldn't lie to the people who's supporting them. Nothing more

And by the way Hail to England and Sign of the hammer are Awesome. I like 80's Manowar but then... meh!

I think it's highly ironic that you would mention KISS in this conversation, probably the most greedy and sell-out band in rock history. Sure Manowar tickets are a bit spendy but it's worth it. I've seen them three times and each time I flew to see them. They have put on the best show I've seen thus far, including Iron Maiden. I didn't have to put up with an hour or mediocre bands before them, they played nearly a solid 3 hour set from start to finish each time I saw them. That's much more than you get from a normal concert. Sorry but I disagree with you that they are greedy simply based on ticket prices because you aren't considering what you're paying for.

About time. Their last couple of albums haven been real stinkers and to be fair Sign of the Hammer was the last overall good album. I also saw them live in 2009 and I would say that the show was both musically and stage performance wise on a very low level. It was for most part only embarrassing.

Australian singer. He's retired and come back numerous times. When he dies, I suspect he'll pop out of the coffin at the funeral to announce another comeback tour.

I always like Manowar but their classic era was much much better. I think Joey can't produce anything anymore. Nothing exciting has been released since Warriors of the World even that was some what weak and after that all the albums were like the same albumi same sound, same production, dull and weak. I think it is time for Manowar to say Farewell...

Everything Manowar released with Ross Friedman is great. Then they slowly but steadily turned to shit. They were the first metal band I ever saw live but I can't say I'd like to attend their farewell concert. Don't want to ruin the magic memory of adolescence.
