Ne Obliviscaris - Announce N. American Headlining Tour

The Australian progressive extreme metallers Ne Obliviscaris recently announced a North American headlining tour, taking the band through 26 different cities in the United States and Canada. The tour begins in San Diego on July 12th and lasts for a month, visiting many classic venues in some of the continent's largest cities with Black Crown Initiate and Starkill accompanying them.

Here's what the band has to say about it, per their official Facebook page: "We got the impression that our friends in North America weren't quite satisfied with the 35min set we had on our tour to your fair lands earlier this year... so we're coming straight back again and this time we're doing a massive headline tour and bringing along the amazing Black Crown Initiate and Starkill along for the ride!"

Let the extreme(ly) fun metal commence!

I wonder how many people funded that with their "Give us money cause we can;t be arsed to work a real job" ethic.

So being a high-calibre full-time musician isn't a "real job"? Of course, you don't have to join their crowdfunding (I didn't, but I'm a fan and buy their music/merch); but your attitude really devalues the work of musicians in this capitalist society. Music means more to me (and to a lot of us I'm sure) than most of the non-essential goods/services I pay for, so why not contribute to giving musicians a bit more financial freedom if the fans are willing? If you can't show appreciation for people who make the music you enjoy so much, in the most down-to-earth way of current society, then what good is money for anyway?

Certainly, many underground bands only treat music as a "hobby" and not a income-generating career, which is a honorably difficult path - but this is precisely because the current industry is so unfair to fringe artists trying to survive. You definitely can't fault bands with a decent fanbase for trying to commit to their music career 100%, which requires the ability to make a living; to say that musicians who are obviously dedicated to their craft have bad work ethic is a misguided insult.

P.S. I can't wait to see NeO in Calgary - such a rare occasion!

One of my favorite bands, ever. Hope to catch them in Austin! And with regards to the crowdfunding effort, I didn't sign up but I do purchase (yes, actually spend real money) for their recordings and proudly wear their shirt, despite the fact it is probably a bad idea for me "socially" or "financially" or "professionally" to present an "image" of a metal fan.

Merch is the best way besides actually purchasing a ticket and going out and seeing a band. If you support the crowdfunding, too, well good for you! I just chose to spend the money on another t-shirt instead.
