Everyone talks that Magma is really bad album. In my opinion I think it's not. It's different compared to previous albums but in a good way.

Gojira stole riffs from System Of A Down and made a sludgy song with them, that was unexpected!

Can't really get into it, as much as I got to Stranded and Silvera. Can't understand the selection of it being as an album opener; it rather sounds like a filler track more than anything..

I agree with this.

Sounds very similar to A Sight to Behold from their 2008 album. Very slow, very mediocre. What happened to these guys?

Not my cup of tea, seems like I'm not going to care that much for this album. But respect to Gojira who experiment and try to make something different!

How do people know it's a bad album if it hasn't been released yet? For that matter, how could anyone know if it's a good one?

I mean, people can make predictions, for sure--especially since we've got a decent idea of what the whole thing is like now that three tracks are released. I personally think that this album is not really going to blow me away, but there's no way to tell if it's actually bad or good until the whole thing is released.

The whole thing?

Did not know that. Where can I listen to it? Might give it a try soon.

That's what I was thinking. I even saw the album available to listen on bandcamp the other day while I was browsing music stuff.
I didn't click the link though...

I actually kinda like this song. It is, at the very least, much better than Stranded. The slow, plodding, repetitive nature here sets up a nice trance-like quality, whereas Stranded is just a pop song that happened to be written by Gojira.

Unfortunately this track is one of the best songs of the new record ...
Magma is probably the biggest letdown of this year

Didn't went through the album.

I agree with this part. The vocals are the centerpiece and it works pretty well with the delay, modulation, and layers. When the guitars come back in for riffs, the sound punctuates what's going on during the verse. I think the overall sound is very good and the vocal performance is right for the feel of the song. I like when bands that can play outside and/or sideways throw in a more subdued song.

(aside)
I don't know if the members are still here from a couple of years ago, but I've been really ill with a systemic mystery illness since 2014. Apparently, among other things, loud or intense sound can make me feel worse and make my cognition fuzzy. I've had to stop listening to the more intense bands or keep the listening really short. It's nice to hear something that doesn't hurt from a really good metal band.

On The Shooting Star, I thought there was a fuzz pedal. Having heard all three in a row, it's Whammy pedal, I think. There seems to be recurring melodic themes between SS and Silvera, as well.
