Sirenia - Singer Ailyn Out Of The Band

Norwegian symphonic Gothic metallers Sirenia announced on Facebook today that lead vocalist Pilar Giménez García, better known as Ailyn, is leaving the band for personal reasons. The band also confirmed that the production of their next album and upcoming tour will continue as planned, and they are currently seeking out a new lead singer to take over Ailyn's role. Ailyn, however, is saying that this was not her decision.

The band's statement: "Sirenia and Ailyn have decided to part ways for personal reasons. We part ways on good terms and we wish Ailyn the best of luck for her future endeavours. Thanks a lot for the great years we shared in the band and thanks for all your efforts in this period, we are forever grateful. It has been a true delight and privilege working with you, may all your dreams be fulfilled and may your future shine. Sirenia will spend the next two months finishing the recordings of our upcoming album. The band is in the process of engaging a new singer to take over the lead singer role in the group. All tours and shows from September 2016 and forward will go as planned. We will be back soon with more news. Stay tuned!"

The singer posted her version of the story on her Facebook page: "Dear friends, I'm very sorry for the bad news. I have to confirm the statement posted on the Sirenia page earlier. Sirenia and I are going our separate ways. This decision was not mine, I didn't take part of it. I want to thank Sirenia for eight and a half wonderful years touring around the world. I am grateful for the chances I had to meet a lot of you and make new friends. I wish Sirenia all the best for the future and hopefully our paths will cross again. The good memories will always be in my heart. For now I don't know what the future holds but I am super excited about finding out. I will for sure keep working with music, and hopefully it will give me the opportunity to be back on the road so we can meet again soon. But first I will enjoy some days of Norwegian summer and as soon as I am on to something you'll be the first to know."

This is like a deja vu of what happened in Leaves' Eyes. All the singers are getting fired these days, it seems.

First gig was Manowar (loincloths 'n' all), Bristol Colston Hall in March 1983, on the 'Hail to England' tour. Tickets were £3.75, 300 in the audience, Mercyful Fate never showed, but my hearing still got seriously trashed..

Do you think so? I've looked at the MS Index, Sirenia 161, LE are 261.

..and busy getting a divorce.

Apparently she already got the divorce. Leaves Eyes member gave an interview recently to some Russian zine. Apparently, Liv had an affair with some guy that interfered in the band's business. In addition, she could not hold her commitment to attend gigs so she got busted. Also, it seems like she wanted to get out as well.

I'd seen something similar written elsewhere... it all sounds a bit 'Spinal Tap' to me..

Great! Now Morten Veland should end this band and go back to Tristania and write good music with Einar Moen. And on his way go get Vibeke too.

Happens a lot in bands where couples can be found. When they split, chaos unfolds. The interview is available on the bands facebook page if you want to check it. Then again it is one-sided so who knows what really went on. I just wanted the shit to end. Bands like LE with a lot of prepubescent fanboys and fangirls have it rough. These fans usually get very emotional in such situations and one should look no further than the Nightwish fiasco which went for years and years.

On another note, Sirenia lost its best and most longstanding vocalist. Ailyn was also hated when she joined, but her performance on the last 2 albums were particularly good. She improved as a signer tremendously. One thing about Sirenia is that all singers that were part of this band were good. Problem is with Veland. He seems to be a tough guy to work with. Except for the drummer which has been around since 2003, he changed the others like diapers.

I don't think that will happen since Epica is synonymous with Simone. But Tarja was also big in Nightwish and that happened. So, who knows? Epica seems more like a family though.

Didn't Simone and Mark Jansen used to date each other? If so then 1) Mark i'm so sorry it didn't work out and 2) props to them for still going strong.

Where did you get this info from? I had no idea about that lol I only knew she is with Kamelot's keyboardist. If that is true, they were very professional about it.

Well I did some research because you put doubt in me haha and ye they did. '"Our Destiny" is more personal. It's about me and Mark. We were in a relationship many years ago. So it's about surviving and still having Epica in the end. When a normal couple breaks up, you don't want to have anything to do with each other anymore. But to break up and still be in a band together, that's quite intense. But we managed and made the best of it.' - Simone.

Great investigative work eheh Props to them. Maybe that's why some bands are big and other never reach that status. They keep it professional regardless of what happened. That and the quality of the music and labels, I guess.

Oh my... but congrats to Ailyn and big thanks to her for her contribution. She is the only frontwoman of this band to have unlocked the achievement of staying in the line-up longer than just for one album (Henriette was featured on an album and an EP tho...)
Anyway... couldn't this be a chance for Vibeke to return on stage... at least for a tour or something?

If I'm not wrong, she's both married and have a mutual son with Kamelot's keyboardist Oliver Palotai...

On-topic-
This does look like an end to the symphonic metal phase; more bands start falling apart one by one.
Pretty disasterous to the metal genre as a whole.
