Dark Tranquillity - Share New Album Title, Cover And More

Finally, some news regarding Dark Tranquillity's new album! In fact, now we know the title, release date and how the album cover looks like. The follow-up to Construct will drop on November 4th, 2016 through Century Media Records. It's called Atoma and the Swedish metallers are currently recording it. The striking cover artwork was once again created by the band's guitarist Niklas Sundin. Feast your eyes on it below.

This is also their first album since guitarist Martin Henriksson left this year.

The band says: "That's right! We're more than halfway done with the recording of the upcoming album, and it's shaping up to be a diverse and challenging affair that will feature a lot of different aspects of the D.T. sound. It's hard to be more specific while still immersed in the creative process, but we're incredibly excited about the material and can't wait to share the results with all of you soon."

Atoma is being recorded at Rogue Music in Gothenburg, the studio owned by Dark Tranquillity keyboardist Martin Brändström. Mixing duties will be handled by David Castillo, known for his work with bands such as Katatonia, Opeth and Candlemass.

The touring cycle for Atoma will start with a headline North American run in November, featuring Swallow The Sun, Enforcer and Starkill as support acts. A European tour is planned for early 2017.

The cover is so delicious! I hope the music will be too.

But I admit I'm a little worried after Martin Henriksson left. Hopefully they can do better than their last album, which was good but nothing too exciting.

Despite being disappointed by their two latest releases, I have high hopes for this one? Why?
1. "Atoma"! The band AtomA is awesome. Thus this must be as well.
2. The art cover reminds me of In Vain's Aenigma, an album I absolutely love.
3. Take a look at their photograph. They have clearly become old dudes. They have probably matured and thus this time they will rock.

Super-rational.

Mikael is ageless somehow. He's the only dude that never seems to look any different no matter how many years go by. Tuck Everlasting, anyone?

Wow. They do seem a lot older -- except for Mikael, of course. I hope the new music is as good as Fiction.

I don't know why people got so down on Construct. I thought it was right up there with their classics, and hopefully the new one will be too.

100% agreed ! "We Are The Void" was a slow grower with me but "Construct" was an instant coup de coeur (and I'm really happy I grabbed the US edition so that I can enjoy the nice looking cover and the 2 great bonus tracks). I'm sure that Atoma won't disappoint either. Argh it's gonna be hard to wait until we can finally hear a first track !

The band is growing older but we all are (hey Mikael Stanne is only 21 days younger than me !

I love Dark Tranquillity so much. I really loved We Are the Void and Construct grew on me a lot. Can't wait!

I think it's a good album but I preferred We Are The Void, thought it was more balanced and consistent. Construct just had some weaker songs. DT never put out a bad record.

See I thought Construct was way more memorable, but Iridium was probably the best ending track the band has put out except for maybe Cornered. I actually have an iTunes playlist for really good album-enders and every final track from D-Tranq is on there.

Took every last word out of my mouth. Still one of my all time favorite bands. Hope they pull this off.

Dont follow in In Flames footsteps. Last album had me doubting this bands future.

No, what I meant was lackluster Metal music.
