Amaranthe - Vocalist Jake E Taking Break From The Band

Singer Jake E, who is among the founding members of Amaranthe, will be taking a break from touring with the band to pursue other things. The Swedes just released their new album Maximalism and are touring in Europe to support it. However, there is speculation that the vocalist won't come back to the band. In fact, he doesn't specify if his absence could be permanent or not.

Jake E explained: "It's been seven long, extremely pleasant, instructive and exciting years. During this time we have reached an almost unimaginable success with the band. I now feel that the time is right to take a break from touring and pursuit things I wanted to do for a long time. For how long I'll be gone is hard to say at this point. I wanna send the biggest gratitude to all the fans out there that has been supporting us through all the years, and I will see you soon again!"

(For reference, he was the clean male vocalist)

Although he was one of the weaker links in the band, he definitely will be missed. His voice was great for dueting with Elize and he improved a ton over the years. Hope everything goes well for him and the band!

I never got around to listen to Maximalism past the single and first song, so I'm kinda scared based on what people said and what I heard.

I don't understand this band. Elize is far and away the main reason people listen to them, yet she barely sings in most of the songs I hear. The growls are awful yet seem to take up the majority of the songs.

Are we listening to the same band? Outside of the first album, it's been mostly an Elize show. The last two albums especially might as well have been full Elize.

Their songs are catchy, addicting and energetic. It's not just cuz of Elize but I'd say definitely a guilty pleasure.

After the disapointment of their last album I'm hoping they all just call it quits so Olof can have time to write another Dragonland album.

I could totally be completely wrong. The only songs I hear from them are the singles that get played on the Radio and sometimes I watch the videos. Haven't listened to a full album. But all the latest singles have been with her only singing the Chorus. Fury, Drop Dead Cynical and Digital World are the ones I have mostly in mind.

I've only heard 1 of their albums, when it was streaming a few years ago on release, but I thought that he (the male clean vocalist) was superfluous (holy shit, I spelt that right!), with the other 2 doing most of the vocal work and his parts could be done by on or the other. Other albums might have been more varied, though. Just thought he seemed more like a guest than a member on that one.
