Pillorian - John Haughm's New Band Reveals Debut Album Details

Following the demise of Agalloch, mastermind John Haughm announced a few months later the formation of a new band called Pillorian with Stephen Parker (Maestus/ex-Arkhum) and Trevor Matthews (Uada/ex-Infernus). At the time, not much was revealed other than an impending debut album. Well, now the label has announced that their debut album is to be titled Obsidian Arc and is set for release on March 10th 2017 via Eisenwald. Check out the cover, tracklist and more right here.

Tracklist:
01. By The Light Of A Black Sun (8:22)
02. Archaen Divinity (6:44)
03. The Vestige Of Thorns (8:45)
04. Forged Iron Crucible (7:08)
05. A Stygian Pyre (5:05)
06. The Sentient Arcanum (2:43)
07. Dark Is The River Of Man (9:31)

Obsidian Arc was recorded at Witch Ape Studio/Skyway Audio and Sprout City Studios by Tad Doyle and Stephen Parker and it was mixed and mastered at Klangschmiede Studio E by Markus Stock. The cover art was created by Belgian visual artist Niels Geybels.

In advance of the album release, a 7" single for "A Stygian Pyre" will be released on February 10th and will contain an exclusive B side track.

Song names and lenghts are quite Agalloch-ish. Not a negative thing though, he was the so called mastermind.

Certainly eager to check it out. The song titles are promising, at the least.

Those song titles seem more run of the mill atmospheric black titles then Agalloch ideas. I know John and his partner did direct Agalloch artistically but he was no fucking way in my mind the 'mastermind' of Agalloch more then what Don Anderson was. In those final facebook statements, when Don told John to not call himself the 'mastermind' he didn't listen, and fucked his reputation up says quite alot. John was arsey when I last met him last year, unlike the other three.

Boring album cover too and hell, even I advertised my artwork to Veleda, since I really like her photography style.

Looking forward to it! Faustian Echoes was Agalloch's last true masterpiece, and though just an EP, it was one of their career highlights. Hopefully this band, and this album, will be more along those lines (or following the passion of Pale Folklore) than the White EP! Hopefully more dark/heavy/black than strictly ambient. There has already been enough post-rock released in the world to last a lifetime. No More!!
