Couldn't find Fleshgod Apocalypse anywhere and I can hardly believe it was forgotten while KING is such an awesome album ! Anyway, I added it Also hard to choose between the melodeath candidates (and this is where I realise this is my fave gender as I know almost none of the bands nominated in a lot of other categories

Yeah they didn't make the cut

Are you seriously telling me than Fleshgod Apocalypse's KING was not good enough to be nominated ? Come on, you were bought by Trump, admit it !

I've been severely crushed to select one of the best out of Chthe'ilist or Eneferens. Both knocked me out completely with such a terrific personalities. I can't even toss a coin and sealed my vote as both weighing on same scale.

Well, let me do yoga and see if I achieve oneness with myself to vote for the best debut album.

Is ok if I decide to vote for, let's say, a compilation album of demos in one of the categories? (thrash)

But I would indeed say that Sindrome demo compilation is by far the best thrash release of 2016.

You're highly underestimating new Witchery. I could have added Inculcator's Void Abecedary to that too but vocals were offbeat and it completely ruined like anything.

yes, somehow (I certainly would have done without Amon Amarth, but well, it's a collective process...) and NOPE

So you guys purposedly selected all the best stuff and put it all together on the avantgarde/experimental category? =)

It's not purposefully. It's just that the avantgarde/experimental category IS the best.

I voted Amon Amarth in the biggest letdown so I cannot but agree on that point but definitely not when it comes to Fleshgod Apocalypse... Your choice, not mine

I put Six Feet Under as best cover. Am I cool and edgy yet?

I'm sad that deathcore is under-represented in the -core section. Of all the releases, Whitechapel? Really? I enjoyed it more than the average person but Carnifex and Infant Annihilator had way better albums, and The Depression Sessions was the best deathcore release of the year by far. In general I'm not exploring as much music was I did in 2015 so I find myself unable to vote in a lot of the categories, which is completely fine. Fleshgod Apocalypse not making the cut is a big mistake though, because they can fit in so many categories that it means MS staff can be anal and purge a fraction of the votes (similar to Draconian last year). Would they fall under melodeath or symphonic metal? Septicflesh has historically been added as a symphonic metal contender but at the same time they were more atmosphere-based than "we have a hyperactive drummer" Fleshgod Apocalypse. They had a genuinely really good album this year and it's a shame to see it go to waste.

If you think deserving bands didn't make it through, Go for Write-in vote. Simple.

Voted for Inquisition in the black metal category. Found it to be the best bm album out of all the contenders. Best songwriting by miles since they are proper songs. And I am not even talking about the riffs... Those beat all the other contenders to smithereens.

I agree with you on the most part but voted for Skáphe - Skáphe² anyway. Inquisition could/should 've been in my top 20 last year though.

Yeah Skáphe it is in bm. It didnt do much last time but its pretty damn good after all. Great vocals and a lot more interesting than DsO (and other clones) these days. In the long run Its probably better than Wóddréa Mylenstede and Nox Formulae which was my other 2016 bm favourites.

Seeing "Thanatos" getting underappreciated moved me a bit as this record needs a deserving hand. Great record.
