Megadeth - Win Grammy For Best Metal Performance

On their 12th attempt, Megadeth have finally won a Grammy award! The thrash metallers won a Grammy in the "Best Metal Performance" category at the 59th annual Grammy Awards, held last night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. This was the band's 12th Grammy nomination and first win for the song "Dystopia", the title song of their last album.

The other nominees in the category were Baroness, Gojira, Korn, and Periphery.

In other Grammy news, Metallica performed at the ceremony with Lady Gaga but things didn't go very smoothly at first. There was a mic fail at the beginning of the performance of "Moth Into Flame". James Hetfield's mic wasn't working. Sad but true.

Check out clips of the performance here:

I really wonder if there is a single metalhead who gives a flying f@ck about the grammy awards. I am also sad to see that Metallica are sinking deeper and deeper into an abyss of total self-embarrassment..

When Megadeth hit the stage to accept the Grammy the Grammy organization played Master Of Puppets, What a mega fail on their part.

I noticed that too ahah I was like: MegaDave isn't going to be pleased. I'm guessing they only know Metallica? Mustained tried to keep it cool though.

Agree. Biggest one for me? The place was half-full for the announcement of the award.

Maybe the Grammy folks forgot that some bands actually use microphones on stage, and not just for decoration.

Dystopia is a great Megadeth song, even though it came out 20 years too late. From the performance point of view, I think the award it's a deserved recognition of Kiko's work in this album.

I'm still disappointed the Grammy's played such a horrendous rendition of "Master of Puppets" by Metallica AS Megadeth... MEGADETH... went on stage in the first place. How do you screw that up so bad? That's a giant kick to the head for Metal as a community, and more then proves that the Grammy's no longer get Metal. SMH.
