Wormrot - Cancel U.S. Tour Due To Political Climate

Wormrot's upcoming U.S. tour to promote the latest Voices album isn't happening after all. The Singapore grindcore crew has decided to cancel it due to the current political climate in the country and "bands being turned away at US customs".

Their tour would have included an appearance at Maryland Deathfest.

The band explained this decision: "Due to the current political climate and numerous bands being turned away at US customs, we felt it was not worth the risk coming to America without the right paperwork, which is expensive. Therefore we truly apologize that we must postpone our US tour until next year when we can focus on a full length tour with all the right papers. We regret that we came to a decision this late, one month to the start of the tour. Once again, we apologize to everyone who are affected."

Fucking Trump man...I knew when he became president it would be hard for a lot of foreign bands to tour here for obvious reasons. What a shitty situation.

Things are a little inconvenient for bands etc but at least the US are not likely to have a truck run through innocents at Christmas markets or have women put on cycling shorts before collecting children from school to avoid being raped as women by me do. I'd love a visa to the US, my kids would love to play outside without either myself or my other half watching.

They seemed to have the intention of touring without the paperwork. Not the smartest move (even if it's to save cash).

Well said and, indeed, we do not have those issues. I hope Europeans governments will make effective changes soon. Until then stay strong friends!

Yeah, sure you have none of these issues... mass shootings at nightclubs or at office parties? Never heard about that.
Those visas sure are effective!

What a smart comment, we all know that the US is such a big country for Freedom ! Well, be happy as UK is going to leave Europe. Now you can get onto a boat and reach USA... if they let you in of course

I came for the "Haha, as if US didn't have any troubles with mass shootings and violence" comment... Realised that I was not the only one who picked it up.

Housing market ? Are we talking about that market that caused the subprimes crisis that led millions of people to losing their house ? Wow, really, sorry but there is no way I want to live in such a country.

Not to mention that almost all shootings/terrorists acts are caused by nationals (or foreign legal residents), so measures like visa ban or closing borders are quite ineffective.
But they make ignorant people feel safe and believe their country is the greatest... sad.

Brace for a PM from an actual American who bought a house during that timeframe. Super short version: Banks were forced by Govt and activist groups to give six figure home loans to people who didn't have the financial capability or situation to merit a car loan. It was bound to end in disaster. While the banks are easily ridiculed for engaging in predatory practices in a situation where they absolutely knew they were going to take a financial beating, the gov't deserves a fuck ton of blame for pushing this through, as do the people who bought houses they in no way, shape or form could afford.

Just because the gov't forces a bank at spearpoint to give you a $350,000 loan doesn't mean you should take it.

Fact is everyone here can finger point at somewhere else an bitch about someone else's country while ignoring problems in their own.

ALL, back on topic.

Political climate sucks on both sides for US, really. Trouble getting in, and, say, your lead vocalist or 20 years ago who you kicked out 19 years and 11 months ago is enough to get ANTIFA to threaten to burn down the disco forcing venue owners to cancel gigs.

According to this statement, it seems the band had no work permit to go on tour in the US. It was a wise decision to avoid the worst scenario.

I've looked at a 4 bed with land and a lovely front porch in the US for $58k that's cheaper than my own home here and I own a small 2 bed which would go for upwards of £80k. Take it from someone who's lived with socialism and some alternative and the alternative provided me with an opportunity to own my own home and drive a decent car and I'm no stockbroker that I assure you.

No, it's that even with all the paperwork in place, they can still be rejected at the border.

Even with all the very expensive paperwork in check, there is still no guarantee of entry, and that's a big investment for any band.

I don't know the criterion to be rejected with the correct paperwork but I'm not discussing that. Just pointing out that they don't seem to have the paperwork anyway because:

Quote:
not worth the risk coming to America without the right paperwork

and
Quote:
we can focus on a full length tour with all the right papers

That's all.
(and apparently small bands touring with a tourist visa is a thing, so could be the case).
