Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame - Judas Priest, Rage Against The Machine Nominated
The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame has announced its 19 possible inductees for next year's class and legendary metallers Judas Priest and Rage Against The Machine are among them. The list also includes Radiohead, Bon Jovi, Depeche Mode, Kate Bush, the Cars, Dire Straits, Eurythmics, J. Geils Band, LL Cool J, MC5, the Meters, the Moody Blues, Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, Nina Simone, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Link Wray and the Zombies.
Judas Priest has featured many lineups over the past five decades, but the Hall of Fame selected vocalist Rob Halford, bassist Ian Hill, guitarists Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing and drummers Scott Travis, Les Binks and Dave Holland.
Rage Against The Machine haven't performed since 2011, so a reunion could happen at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony.
For the sixth consecutive year, the public will have the opportunity to vote alongside the more than 800 artists, historians and music industry insiders of the Rock Hall voting body. From now until December 5th, fans can vote on the Rock Hall's site for the nominees they'd like to see inducted. The top five acts will comprise a "fan's ballot" that will count as one of the ballots that determine the class of 2018.
The top vote-getters will be announced in December and inducted on April 14th at a ceremony at Public Hall in Cleveland. HBO will broadcast the ceremony later in the year.
To be eligible for this year's ballot, each nominee's first single or album had to be released in 1992 or earlier. Some of the nominees have appeared on previous ballots, but this is the first appearance for Kate Bush, Dire Straits, Eurythmics, Judas Priest, the Moody Blues, Radiohead, Rage Against The Machine, Nina Simone and Sister Rosetta Tharpe. Radiohead and Rage Against The Machine are the only acts to appear on the ballot in their first year of eligibility.
Last year's Hall of Fame class included Pearl Jam, Yes, Journey, Tupac Shakur, Joan Baez and Electric Light Orchestra.

Not a rage fan. I find it strange that they're even up for nomination. Have that really been that influential? That said, Judas Priest is awesome! Hope they get in.

Judas Priest deserves this so much. If they don't get inducted, I'll punch someone  Fairly decent group of nominees this year if you ask me: Depeche Mode, Kate Bush, Radiohead, Zombies and Dire Straits especially.

Rage is more culturally influential than it is musically influential. Their songs made it on to a lot of movie soundtracks and they are used by documentary filmmakers working on '90s material in much the same way that Dylan and Hendrix show up in '60s material.

RATM is barely influential, and the only reason they've been inducted so early is because they are poster boys for political correctness and darlings for marxist leaning journalists and music critics, thus the ideal band to hype today. Their music, apart for a couple of songs, did not stand the test of time.

I love Judas Priest, but the Moody Blues have been at it since 1964 with an impressive number of classic albums in their discography so my vote would be for them.

Judas Priest had the biggest influence on how heavy metal was shaped after the end of the 70's and the beginning of the 80's. They redefined this with SFV and DOTF and then completely set the pace for some Power Metal bands with Painkiller (e.g. Gamma Ray etc...).

Rock and roll hall of fame is a joke. A lot of hip-hop artists were inducted, but not Sister Rosseta Tharpe, who is known as "grandmother of rock and roll". And Judas Priest should have been inducted decades ago, as they are among best and most influential rock bands ever. As a JP fan i hope they will not be inducted. Honestly, why do you care about R&RHoF, when it is obvious that there nominee choice is too often based on who is going to bring them more money, and not on who is more influential in rock world.
