Nightwish - To Release New Compilation Album

Nuclear Blast just announced that the new, upcoming compilation album of the Finnish symphonic masters Nightwish, titled Decades - An Archive Of Song will be released on March 3rd, 2018, and is now available for pre-order! This compilation album will be released in celebration of the band's worldwide success over the years, and will debut the remastered versions of the best Nightwish songs between the years of 1996-2016, including the band's earliest, self-titled demo, and a variety of songs from all of the band's eras.

Decades - An Archive Of Song will be released on various formats, including digipak, earbook and 3 types of vinyl. You can pre-order your copy here.

Nuclear Blast added the following transcript in the the band's webstore: "Tuomas Holopainen's 3-track demo earned him his first record deal with his freshly founded band Nightwish back in 1996. Today, over 20 years later - with over 2,000 shows played and more than 8 million records sold - Nightwish are the biggest European symphonic metal band. Reason enough for Nuclear Blast to celebrate this huge anniversary by releasing a 2CD compilation titled 'Decades' (Best Of 1996 - 2016), on March 9th, 2018. All material is remastered. Pre-order yours now!"

"...Holopainen's 3-track demo earned him his first record deal..."

And then they decide to fill more than half the album with songs less than 10 years old, and only one song from the demo. Strange choice.

Anyway, those tracks are on the remastered debut album, but still...

That is what they are really saying. But why not, it is their job.

Unless Floor is singing on the old material, there's no fuckin' reason to get this release...

Not a massive fan of Nightwish despite Imaginarium being a massive highlight for me.

I agree with Angel_Lament, if Floor isn't on these tracks, there's no real point in picking it up.

Maybe it's a good way for people who haven't heard of the band to get into them, but who hasn't heard of Nightwish these days?

Anything to keep Holopainen's sauna warm. Pretty sure he sleeps in that thing.
