Great performance. I like how they handled the malfunctioning guitar, not freaking out. Truly one of Opeth's best songs. When I watch this, I feel sad that they stopped making this kind of music...

Man, even his growls are not the same anymore. Sounds tired and as if he couldn't care less. Maybe it is a good thing that they stopped doing that kind of music.

Its kinda odd that they never really did show his face when he was doing his growls...

It's like as if he is ashamed of singing death metal style. Maybe he think he's too old to do that or simply he has forgotten how they menage to be successful, surely not because of the last three albums, anyway. They continue to be successful only for their glorious past and because metal people decided to continue to support them. Their wonderful career passes throughout the metal community. They did a great, great job, but now they are going too far. I suggest them to change nameof the band, because Opeth is a name they should only whisper for the respect due to music like this video's song. However, it is sadly true that they don't show his face while he growls, not even once!

What people don't seem to understand is that Mikael's been struggling with growling for a few years now. He's not fucking ashamed of growling, he just has a hard time doing it now.

Yes, it really looks like he isn't enjoying it. The best part of the song was the clean vocals at the end. At least it sounded good.

Then he should just suck it up and get another vocalist to do the job! There are plenty of great growlers out there who would perform nicely. Åkerfeldt can just handle the clean vocals.

I think it was the right choice to stop growling when they don't sound like they did before. What bothers me is they had an album like Damnation with zero growls, but felt like Opeth. Their new material isn't what made me fall in love with them... And don't make me talk about the awful production on their last three albums.

I liked production on Pale Communion, but Sorceress was muddy mess with to much bass.
And growls - well, Dan Swano said, that it hurts him very much, while he performs growls, yet he is still making music with it, because he loves it. Akerfeldt just lost his interest in this kind of stuff, so degradation of his death vocals are just one of many resons he stopped making new music with it, and looks unhappy while doing it on live shows.

Cringed through the first 2 minutes then turned it off. Played at half speed with a half assed effort. Opeth died a long time ago for me. Its a shame they were once my favourite band but I am thankful for their early albums and live performances. I love to dig them up every now and then and relive the masterpieces of the past.

He's 44.

Mikael: "too old to doing this kind of music".
Seriously there are guys in death metal scene and they're.... 45-50 average and still kickin'.
