Nightwish - To Re-Release 'End Of An Era'

October 21st 2005 is a historic date for Nightwish fans - many tears flowed, yet the foundation was laid for a new beginning and the ongoing continuity of the band. What subsequently appeared as the DVD titled End Of An Era was not only the final show of their mega-selling Once tour, but also the very last joint performance with their singer Tarja Turunen. Due to all of these facets and more, the DVD will give you goose bumps many times over, yet it crowns the end of the Tarja chapter with a unique show that could hardly have been better or more spectacular. The setlist contains 18 hymns, such as the opening "Dark Chest Of Wonders", "Sleeping Sun", "Nemo" and "Bless The Child" through to the final "Wish I Had An Angel". If you do not already own this live masterpiece, you can now look forward to the extensive new edition. Watch the live clip of "Nemo", here.

On December 7th, End Of An Era will be re-released as 3LP and earbook formats including Blu-ray, 2CD and 3LP. Pre-order starts at this location or at the Nightwish webshop.

I still have a hard time seeing Nightwish as anyone but Tarja's band.

Cackling. Nuclear Blast never disappoints. Another overpomoted pointless release.

Nightwish never revived after Tarja's departure.

I saw Nightwish live once, they played 2 hours and everything sounded like boring mid paced power metal.

Do you think Tarja can ever play with the band again? Like a special performance or something?

I don't think she would ever return to Nightwish but maybe they could do something for their fans. Just wondering because of this re-release.

That would be nice. 25th anniversary show - invite all past members and play songs from the entire catalogue.

Sure it would be nice, but Nightwish aren't exactly known for being on good terms with their past members...

Tarja has appeared with Floor and Marco, but she and Tuomas aren't on speaking terms after how he mishandled her dismissal. (I'm not casting judgement on the reason for it either way, but I do think it was handled poorly.)

Tarja has appeared with Floor and Marco

And Sami Vänskä showed up and played a song with them a few years back. Anything is possible. Just give it time.

Yes. I think it would be cool but I guess the relationship with Tuomas probably isn't very good.

It surely is rather odd how money and publicity is being squeezed out of something that involved a former member more than a decade ago, especially considering the circumstances at that time. The DVD of this gig was fine but the whole open letter and the ensuing scandal was just unprofessional. I wonder if there will be a re-release of "Made in Hong Kong" in a couple of years.
