Batushka - Both Incarnations Release New Songs
Batushka situation has been quite complicated lately. You may remember when the founder tried to kick out the vocalist but then he got kicked out and now we have two entities by the name of Batushka, with each holding on to its own share of the band's social media. Recently both of those released some new music and/or plans for a follow-up to Litourgiya.
First came the song from Krzysztof Drabikowski's incarnation, a track called "Pecn' 1" (or "Песнь 1" in Cyrillic). The upcoming album will be called Panihida (or Панихида) and it will be released through Sphieratz Production with no further info regarding its release or tracklist. You can watch the video for the track below.
Krzysztof's Batushka's Twitter account also shared the following court order:
It seems that Bartłomiej Krysiuk's incarnation would not be allowed to use Batushka's name for releasing music or playing concerts, but it seems that this did not stop it from releasing a track called "Chapter I: The Emptiness - Polunosznica" (or "Полунощница") and announcing an album called Hospodi (or Господи). The album will be released through Metal Blade Records on the 12th of July. You can see the cover art below:

Like it could have been published under totally different name and no one would bat an eye. Also, I'm not really impressed by Bart's song, it's somewhat generic except for the chanting at the beginning. But Bart of course needs to parasite on someone else's quite original creation instead of making music under different name. That band would never have reached the level of popularity that Batushka has nowadays.

Now I'm impatiently waiting which summer festivals will cancel Bart's Batushka, since he's confirmed on several of them. Just so I know which festivals support thieves and I should never ever attend them. And I'm really hoping that Brutal Assault cancels, because it's the best festival in my area and I already have a ticket.

So I wouldn't be surprised if MB was actually expecting to sign the real Batushka at that time but it all went down the drain. If there were legally binding contracts with the fat guy's name on them, they probably have no choice. The fact the label doesn't seem to be very communicative about their new signing might give a hint. Of course, the easy cash grab is entirely possible and probably the easiest explanation. What I don't clearly get is that court order. Is the restriction only applied to the fat guy? So the label is allowed to use and sell using the name? Is it applied only in Poland? Plus the fake version is still confirmed to perform some gigs. Not sure how that order stops multiple thieves from making profit. Music wise: the original one seems like a Batushka intro. Should be decent. The fat guy's version is not only extremely far from the usual sound, but it genuinely sounds like crap. Sweet Babushka.

Disobeying court statements and, in the case Drabikowski wins, publishing, selling and promoting products under a stolen brand can financially hurt them a lot. A lot more than whatever sales they can make off Batushka.
