Abbath - Remainder Of South American Tour Canceled

Abbath have announced on Facebook that the remainder of the band's South American tour to promote their latest album, Outstrider, is canceled. They were supposed to do one more gig in Argentina and four in Brazil. The reason for the cancellation, according to the statement, is "health issues that need to be treated" without any further details being revealed.

Official statement from the band:

"It is with heavy heart that we have to announce the cancellation of the remainder of the Abbath South American Outstrider tour. Due to health issues that need to be treated, we are unable to complete the last shows in Argentina and Brazil. We deeply apologize to all of our fans that wanted to come and see us, to the local promoters, and to Matrix Entertainment who has worked tirelessly in order to make this tour happen. We hope we can make it up to all you some day. We are very sorry.

This news comes after a report by the Argentinian website El Culto, according to which Abbath played a disastrous set of just two songs on Wednesday 13 November in Buenos Aires. Only three of the four band members appeared on stage, with rumors that Olve Eikemo had gotten into an argument with guitarist Ole André Farstad, who then decided not to perform with the rest of the band.

According to the same website, Eikemo was apparently very drunk, he was dropping his guitar on the ground and even threw himself into the crowd, before leaving the stage to never return again. The band had only managed to play very poor and short versions of "Count The Dead" and Immortal's "Tyrants" before heading to the dressing room.

Following this incident, the fans' angry comments were all over social media, with many of them asking for a refund. Unofficial YouTube videos of that night can be found here and here.

Looks like he can't stay on that wagon. Dammit Abbath, Demonaz and Horgh did the right thing.

Agreed. I love Abbath for a number of reasons and hope he pulls through this.

This has been going on for some time. Both the last two times Abbath has played London he was in a state, not as bad as this but not miles off. Clearly playing sloppy, stopping songs and getting angry at his sound techs. After the second time i decided i'm not going to waste my money on that again. I do feel sorry for him so hopefully he can get some help.

As someone who's prone to overdoing it in social settings, I can empathize. Hopefully this doesn't become more debilitating than it already is for him.

He has a disease. That doesn't make him a loser. I have battled heroin for 30 years and work with addicts everyday so I know how the brain becomes rewired. The only losers are the ones that cast the stones.
