Dark Tranquillity - Introduce New Members

Dark Tranquillity are pleased to introduce Christopher Amott and Johan Reinholdz as the new permanent guitarists in their ranks. Since 2017, they were both performing with the band on several concerts all over the globe.

Statement from the band: "A new cycle begins...Today marks the first day of recording our new album. In these uncertain times all we can do is try to channel this frustration, fear, and anxiety into music and words. Isolation can be a strong motivator and we are committed to making this the best it can possibly be.

"With us this time we have two fantastic musicians who have been on tour with us for quite some time and we are now proud to announce as proper real members of Dark Tranquillity; Chris Amott and Johan Reinholdz. They have been incredible additions to our live shows and now we cannot wait to hear what their collective musicianship and skill will add to this album.

"Stay tuned as we will update you on the progress of the recording and stays safe out there!"

Not a surprise really, they deserve this. Very both skilled guitarists and great live as well.

wow, cream of the crop! love DT.
We are the void was my first introduction to the melodeath genre. Their worst? maybe, but the bar is high with these guys.
i still love that album

One of the most consistent band ever.

Can we expect a drastic change in attitude in studio? Can we expect a drastic change in sound? Can we expect a drastic change in songwriting?

I think DT will be more refined.

I've been a fan since Project (1999) and I still don't get why We Are The Void should be called their worst. It's different even though I cannot tell why yet I love it. DT never disappoints.

I never could figure it out either, its also one of my favorites! Love the darker tone on it and Iridium is one of my all-time favorite DT songs, even if its one of their slowest.

Anyway, back on topic, can't wait to hear new music with the new members!

Everybody has their favourites and their "worst" albums, and while We Are The Void, in my opinion, is not their best album, they are one of the few bands that really do not have a bad album. Some are more different, but any, any album they put out is at least solid and decent, for me even much more than that.

I for certain will miss Nicklas and Martin, but I think Johan and Chriss are really awesome additions to the band.

Now thats a surprise to me. Both guitarist really well established and experienced. I am excited for the new work, hoping they bring some freshness.

It depends on how much they influence the songwriting process. They've been playing material previously written without their input. It would be interesting to sit in on their writing to see how their personal styles mesh with the rest of the band.

They have played live with them on various occasions and understand their style, but bringing their own "masala" would create something we might not have heard before. And being DT im pretty they will do a good job as they have in the past. Quite stoked. They are already composing as we speak.
