Asphyx - Unleash 'Botox Implosion' Single

Death metal masters Asphyx have recently announced their new, 10th studio album Necroceros for worldwide release on January 22nd, 2021 via Century Media Records.Today, they are pleased to reveal the album's first single, "Botox Implosion", which can be checked out with an official video, filmed by Maurice Swinkels (Younique Film).

Frontman Martin van Drunen checked in about the song and its video: "We actually wanted to film this on Sunset Boulevard LA, where most of the pathetic subjects of this song have their residence, but due to the pandemic it was best not to fly over to the USA. So since it's a fast shredding and written in the typical humorous death metal gore tradition track, we put a few laughable elements in it. Fortunately good old Turock in Essen was so friendly to let us film there and where we're usually not that keen on shooting videos, with this one we had quite some fun. Still, it is a helluva brutal tune!"

Why are even Asphyx writing about botox?

It's like a b horror movie scene, injecting so much botox into your face until it blows up. Not sure why they went with implosion instead of explosion though -- personally the idea of a face popping like a balloon seems better suited to the concept.

Because Martin van Drunen, at least to me, comes across like he thinks he's better than everyone. I will grant that he's got a better death metal voice than most people and his band/s rule.

Gotta say, this song didn't do a lot for me, though.

Why do you think that and how is your statement connected to botox?

Mostly because of this line "We actually wanted to film this on Sunset Boulevard LA, where most of the pathetic subjects of this song have their residence" and a feature I read of him in a magazine some years back. He was reviewing new releases and came across as an uber-elitist. One that stuck out was him ragging on the new In Solitude because it was "pussy goth shit" or something like that.

He may be an elitist, but when I met him at various festivals he was brutally nice and quite a down to earth guy. Maybe he is strict, when it comes to music. I can agree with him about the pathetic subjects.

It's good to hear that he's nice in person. I may just be being harsh. That one article left a really bad taste in my mouth.
