Weapon UK - Former Bassist Deceased
British new wavers Weapon UK announced that former bassist that was with the band between 1981-1982, Barry Downes, has died. The band confirmed this sad news via their Facebook page.

''From Baz's sister - Thank you to everyone for your kind thoughts regarding the death of my brother Barry (better known as Baz to his friends). Vinnie took Barry to St Marys' Hospital, Paddington on the 11th November, sadly he passed away on Monday, 16th November at 7.00 PM. The nurses were with him so he was not alone. The cause of death was severe lung disease. Barry didn't want anyone notified, so I was not told of his death until last Wednesday afternoon. I notified my elder brother John the same afternoon. The hospital have very kindly offered to arrange the funeral with a local crematorium in London. As soon as I have any details I will post them on here. It makes sense to me to have Barry cremated in London and not have him brought up to the Midlands. He had lived in London since his teens, all his friends are there. Under these difficult circumstances, the number of people allowed to attend the funeral will be limited. It has been suggested that we try and stream it over the internet. I will see what can be arranged. Once again, thank you all."

"Our dear friend, and former bassist, Baz Downes funeral has been arranged for Tuesday 8th December 2020 at 09.30am sharp! The service will take place at the West London Crematorium, which is located in Kensal Green Cemetery, 980 Harrow Road, London, NW10 5NX. Nearest underground station Kensal Green. Baz's family is awaiting instructions from the Funeral Director as to how many mourners may attend in person. For those of us who can't be there, due to travel restrictions etc, the service will be streamed live and will be available for 28 afterwards. Log in details will be posted nearer the date."
