Tarja Turunen's album "My Winter Storm" will be released on November 19 in Europe (November 16 in Germany) via Universal Music. It's produced by Daniel Presley (Faith No More, Jewel), who has been joined in the studio by Doug Wimbish on bass (Living Colour, Joe Satriani, Rolling Stones), Alex Scholpp on electric guitars (Farmer Boys) and Earl Harvin on drums (Seal, Pet Shop Boys, Air), a player personally selected by Tarja after she saw him stealing the show at a Seal concert. Keyboards and programming are being provided by Torsten Stenzel (Moby, Tina Turner, Vanessa Mae).

You can view the cover artwork at this location.

Talk about symbolic titles... It's a decent song, very Tim Burtonish. The symphonic part toward the end had a rather epic feel to it.
LeDruide - 07.10.2007 at 18:48
Tarja walking alone under the snow... Well, the song is good, though i think something is missing to make it a awesome song.
Hmm, she's coming to Paris, maybe I'll go have a look.
Ivor - 07.10.2007 at 19:42
I found it rather interesting, from the given song I think the new album may be just good enough. Good!

I.
iaberis - 07.10.2007 at 19:56
Nice stuff. Different...
erykk - 07.10.2007 at 19:57

Bad English - 07.10.2007 at 20:10
WoW good news but album couver are like Witin Tamtation
Ernis - 07.10.2007 at 20:12
Seems promising....even if I may not like the new style and works of Tarja, I will look it up one day for sure...
Remus - 07.10.2007 at 21:15
Damn dude, Tarja is hot!! Hottest when she's brunette! And the song is good too! It's kinda' in the same style as the Once album. It's good! I didn't think it was going to have electric guitars in it. I was surprised!
Metal Maiden - 07.10.2007 at 23:28
Hmm, i like it too...It's prbably not the right place for this, but, about that Tarja/Anette thing - call me when Anette can sing THIS...

Sure she can...she'll just sing it without the opera falsetto but uses "clean voice" instead......dunno if in the same diapason but I think she'll sing it....
Metal Maiden - 08.10.2007 at 00:03
Haha, i guess you're right, but this CAN'T be sang otherwise...
Ernis - 08.10.2007 at 00:44
Dunno....who says it cannot be sang otherwise?
Metal Maiden - 08.10.2007 at 01:36
Well, it's "Ave Maria" dude, it's not something of which a cover can be made!!!
Soliloquy - 08.10.2007 at 03:05
its actually not that bad a song...surprisingly. majority of musicians that get kicked out become shit without their band...
acid_burn - 08.10.2007 at 03:26
Pffff... are you crazy? It's the most boring song I've heard for the last few weeks
4look4rd - 08.10.2007 at 03:27
Haha the Trans-Siberian Orchestra meets

indeed a nice song
Locke - 08.10.2007 at 03:46
I liked it. It's got a nice whimsical, innocent, epic sound.
Keiheji - 08.10.2007 at 04:19
The song is not bad at all, kinda grows on me after a listen or two. but god the video's horrible. You can just see Diva written all over her in it. It's like watching Cher going classical
dancingdecember - 08.10.2007 at 04:33
well now how boring was that ? most cliche and predictable riffs i've heard in a long time,a song that was created by a simple formula..
Elijah - 08.10.2007 at 04:55
The song is okay. Nowhere near good, but I wouldn't call it shit. The video is raping my eyes, though.
+{Jonas}+ - 08.10.2007 at 06:43
Teh video is kinda Tim burtonish, I agree with destruyah. The song is good, The artwork is really nice. Still, I think it lacks of speed.
pajo - 08.10.2007 at 11:04
"My Metal Storm" should be next single
Katatronik - 08.10.2007 at 12:01
Good song, though not excellent... her new album should be interesting anyway, so I'll give a shot.

Well, it's "Ave Maria" dude, it's not something of which a cover can be made!!!

This song is itself a cover....German cover btw...it's originally sung in Latin and this German version was written by Schubert...there's also one by Bach featuring Charles Gounod....even an Estonian popular singer has made his own version of it in the 80ies....so...one can make a death metal version of it if one has the desire....millions of versions of this song exist....

The only thing stopping 'I Walk Alone' from being pure, unadulterated fucking Eurovision material is that I think it sucks.

Ha ha
But she has a beautiful voice. She deserve to continue singing after nightwish. I personaly did not like her new song cause it is too popish style.
Bararey - 08.10.2007 at 16:08
At least I can her her vocals again! The song its self is kinda average, and someone really should tell her to lessen the amount of make-up she puts on, this goes beyond the scary point! And the cover art of the album looks good.

Which kinda implies that you like 'Eurovision material', doesn't it?
SacredBlade - 08.10.2007 at 21:29
Just a small taste of Tarja, she also has some harder metal sounding songs on her new CD such as "Ciaran's Well" which you can her at http://www.mywinterstorm.com a woman with such talent is a beautiful thing,
all the more reason I appreciate her now more than ever...
CrimsonSoaked - 08.10.2007 at 21:55
Way to go Tarja ! Show that popidol Anette which the soprano voice of wilderness is made of ! ! !

Most certainly .
PowerMetal - 09.10.2007 at 03:47
I kept waiting for a guitar to take over and kick into a kick ass solo at some point, I could hear it, waiting, waiting, and then the song was over. Not bad, I'd want heavier, but I guess she doesn't which is why she left Nightwish
Fhuesc - 09.10.2007 at 07:42
I love tarja's voice, but that's not enough, the song it's really boring, i hope that the whole album gets better.
GT - 11.10.2007 at 10:01
The song is decent, but as PowerMetal I was waiting for some good guitar to kick in all the time and it never came
White Winter Sun - 27.10.2007 at 13:30
Tarja Turunen's new song "The Reign" is available for streaming on YouTube at this location (The audio track includes a commentary by Tarja on how the track was conceived and the inspiration behind its lyrics).
Piro - 17.11.2007 at 01:59
Decent I guess, but I don't like it too much. This is ovviously a message to Nightwish, just like By Bye Beautiful was to Tarja. Its like Symphonic bands subtly insulting each other with songs lol.
dismaleuphony - 11.12.2007 at 11:00
Well I have definitely heard much worse this year, but this album is nothing memorable. However, I found it enjoyable to listen to her cover of "Poison" from Alice Cooper's glam metal era The main problem with this album, though, isn't her voice, which is great as always, it's that there are no memorable riffs, and it's too formulaic. Even a great singer is nothing without great songs in which to sing. It'll be a shame if cannot find someone else to write with in the future. I can listen to her voice for hours on end, but can only listen to this CD a few songs at a time.
A.Fetal.Mistake - 23.01.2008 at 03:53
Lmao @ Piro....I agree with you.

o0o0o as well for my opinion to this album. I love every second of it. I don't care! I'm a loyal follower of Tarja. Shes my vocal god. And Anette is the voice devil :| hahaha.
