"Rumors have been circulating for some time, but Guitar World has confirmed that Ripper Owens is indeed the new lead singer for Yngwie Malmsteen. Yngwie announced the news to the Guitar World staff today when he came to the magazine's New York headquarters for an exclusive interview and photo shoot.

Malmsteen and Owens, who formerly fronted Judas Priest, are hard at work on a new CD, which is currently scheduled for a July release."

Bad English - 27.02.2008 at 00:19
OMG Ovens sing and Yngwie plays OmG what a combination, I realy wanna hear it
amarchand - 27.02.2008 at 00:26
it's still gonna sound the exact same, yngwie is amazing but he's released the same album time and time again.. although he's fun to see live
NaittsirK - 27.02.2008 at 00:45
If he gets kicked out this time.....he'd be damn pissed!!!
Spyroid - 27.02.2008 at 01:01
That's awesome!
Okay lol, "formerly fronted Judas Priest"
well, didn't he like... just front another band... an just got kicked out... ?
I look forward to when Yngwie kicks him out xD
WorpeX - 27.02.2008 at 01:33
Good combination. ^^ Owens isn't really replacing anyone special this time, so maybe he'll be with Yngwie longer.
Talvi - 27.02.2008 at 02:05
Oh, so is this guy still alive?
Vinnie R. - 27.02.2008 at 03:14
Tim owens in Yngwie Malmsteen...uhm...that sounds strange and amazing at the same time.
Pestilence - 27.02.2008 at 04:33
NOOO!!! Tim you're just setting yourself up to be fired! What an unlucky fellow.

I actually hope it works out though
4look4rd - 27.02.2008 at 04:35
Where will he be next? Maiden?
IronWinter - 27.02.2008 at 04:36
Ah, sounds good. I'll prefer him to many of Yngwie's past vocalists.
Nice to know he's still getting around even after Iced Earth
Elijah - 27.02.2008 at 04:41
Tim better watch out, or he'll unleash the fucking fury!!!!
April.Ethereal87 - 27.02.2008 at 05:03
I Lol'd.
Eternal Flames - 27.02.2008 at 05:14
I would've thought and hoped that after he got booted from Iced Earth that he'd stick with his own stuff instead of joining established bands. I guess not.
selken - 27.02.2008 at 05:25
Tim has a very awesome voice, lets see if Yngwie can use his potential correctly, cause Priest and Iced Earth didn't.
LeChron James - 27.02.2008 at 06:19
MY LIFE IS COMPLETE.

EDIT: if he gets kicked outta this band im SURE hes gonna jump of a building.

Ya, I was kind of hoping that too. Beyond Fear kicked some serious ass!

My thoughts exactly...
Stigma - 27.02.2008 at 12:29
I could already picture Owens' CV.. All those great bands, and with really small letters the reasons why he left them.

wwwwwAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRR

that was me screaming of joy when i saw the news:P
Dane Train - 27.02.2008 at 14:14
So we have a joke of a vocalist joining up with a joke of a guitarist? When I first read it I couldn't believe and then I started laughing. My room mate asked me what was so funny and I told him. He didn't get it so I explained it would kind of be like Vanilla Ice being the new front man for Nickleback.
NortheRnmost - 27.02.2008 at 15:56
Joke my ass! Two shredding sounds, Yngwie and Ripper. Should check the new album, cause haven't really listened the more recent albums, have sorta stayed with Yngwie's 80's recordings. As someone said, Yngwie might do what he does on his albums nowdays, but live he is a blast.
Hangar XVIII - 27.02.2008 at 15:58
Wow.

I didn't even know Yngwie was still recording...
That's great.

The only Yngwie albums I have are Rising Force, Trilogy and Concerto Suite
AnarChrist - 27.02.2008 at 16:56
Damn, I really hoped he'd join Therion, would be a great replacement for Mats.
This is still cool though

errrm wow, I'm not sure about this.
Doc Godin - 28.02.2008 at 09:11
Bizarre, I figure it will either be amazing or pure shit. this doesn't seem like something that will take middle ground on anything.
DrunkenFuck - 28.02.2008 at 11:02
Yeah! I'm hoping for another Facing The Animal!

Agree.
Nickferatu367 - 29.02.2008 at 03:26
you know what this means. in aboot 5 years or so Dougie White or Mats Leven are gonna ask to come back, and ripper's gonna get fired in favor of one of the formers.
