I don't know where Jed lives in Vietnam but I think it is possible to fly from either Saigon or Ho Chi Minh City to kuala Lumpur or Singapore and then change flights there for a direct flight to Amsterdam, and from Amsterdam take a train to Rotterdam.
But of course it is bloody expensive.
