ehm....like derek roddy and thomas haake are the only drummers of these that i would accept in this category as one of the best. with those others....well.....i dont say that theyre bad or something, but they dont deserve it.
Stigma - 07.06.2008 at 13:45
I'd say that he's a rightful winner, nothing wrong in the top5 IMO.
Katatronik - 07.06.2008 at 14:53
He definitely deserves it! No competition IMO...
Black_Handed - 07.06.2008 at 15:01
i didnt say thomas isnt the rightful winner, i myself would choose him. i was talking about numbers 2,3,5.
Rupert - 07.06.2008 at 16:35
Don't let the name Slipknot fool you, Jordison's quite the drummer. Haake definitely deserves first though.
Manzo - 07.06.2008 at 17:13
Where is George Kollias? Joey Jordinson makes it but not George? JJ is so over-rated, its disgusting.
Spyroid - 07.06.2008 at 17:19
Joey Jordison is not bad! Maybe not THAT good but he still deserves some of his attention. Derek Roddy is better though, and then I can't see what the two others are doing there at all.
MetalManic_Joel - 07.06.2008 at 17:26
What about Stef Broks (Textures), Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree), or even Mario Duplantier (Gojira)? It seems to me that the readers poll is somewhat skewed towards bands of origin to or with greater exposure to North America. Give it a few more years and we'll be seeing quite a few different names on this list. Still, good rankings tho.

@Rupert & Spyrod: i dont like to repeat myself but whatever. ill do it once, next time i wont bother:

I wasn't expecting george anyway, he is nothing but a speed demon. Martin Lopez would have been a nice one though.

i havent listened to much meshuggah but ive heard a bunch about their drummer so i approve. i didnt know shadows fall's drummer was that good...better than chris adler, last years winner, no less.
TheVonBraun - 08.06.2008 at 05:08
Ooh a nice list.

Reason why he won: "Bleed"

'nuf said.

@Black_Handed: it is possible for people to be expressing their opinions in a way that is not a direct response to what you wrote. Geez, calm down man.

Nice list...But where is Dave Lombardo?
Valaskjalf - 08.06.2008 at 18:26
right on!!
Infurnace - 08.06.2008 at 18:34
Hmm.. too bad that Vitek died last year. He could have had a chance to make the top 5 as well.

I agree with you. Although Im not a drummer, if the drummer's skill is at least relatively proportional to band's overall skills, than there could deffinitely be some other in the top5... Like Gene Hoglan, or Mike Portnoy, or something...
ß - 08.06.2008 at 20:50
um #5 definatley no.... as for # 1 iv'e never understood why lots of people really like meshuggah they sound very repetative.
Ozman - 08.06.2008 at 22:14
why do people bitch about Joey Jordison here? simple just because he is in Slipknot, but actually a much better drummer than what he does in that band. He did drum with both Satryicon and Slayer on their tours. And he was great there. He is much more versatile a drummer that someone like Kollias.

Yes, Joey has every right to be in this top 5. I would rate hime above the nr's 2 ,3 & 4 though. Yes he IS better than Roddy, Alder & Bittner if you ask me.

He also toured with Ministry. Still a bit of a douchebag but yeah, he's a good drummer.

Forgot about him touring with Ministry. I dont know if he's a douchebag or not since I never met him, but he does come across as such in quite a few interviews though. But being a douchebag does not take away from his drumming capacities.
Fuath - 09.06.2008 at 04:55
what about george kollias?
Savage Messiah - 11.06.2008 at 11:22
Wo0t!
The guy is a math genius ^_^
Metalbound7 - 05.12.2008 at 09:20
Number 1 without doubt. Haake is a God among men.

IMO the whole list is fine exept for Joey Jordison, I think he's in Mike Portnoy's place.
Solstafir! - 03.08.2009 at 23:39
Haake is an INHUMAN DRUMMING MACHINE...
P.S : He's got tentacles instead of human feet!!!
Raven ot - 08.08.2009 at 06:36
Yeah over these are great drummers but george kollias is insane!! NILE
Apothecary - 17.12.2010 at 17:17
Hell yeah, this is well deserved. Inferno, George Kollias, Richard Christy, and Gene Hoglan are all insane too though;D
