Earache Records press release

Ol Drake, lead guitarist of UK thrashers Evile fractured his jaw last night (Wednesday November 19) after the band's show in Rotterdam, Netherlands supporting Satyricon.

Evile frontman Matt Drake comments: "Ol collapsed last night and fractured his jaw and split his chin on the ground. Luckily his beard absorbed some of the blow. He's been in hospital and had X-rays and been stitched up, but he's unable to play - he can't really move - he's a mess. Ol doesn't drink, it seems to be some medical problem that's being investigated. They did an ECG and we're awaiting results. Unfortunately we're having to pull out of the tour to get home to the UK where Ol can recuperate and have some follow-up tests.

We apologise to all our fans and to anyone planning to see us at the shows. As you can imagine we're devastated we can't play, but Ol's health comes first and that's currently our priority. We will update our fans through the MySpace with news when we're back home. We won't be on any of the Satyricon tour from today."

Evile plan to resume touring duties in 2009. Keep up-to-date with news on Ol Drake's condition by checking for updates on the band's MySpace page.

Argh... I had planned to see them this very Sunday but now... I was willing to go to for the thrash, not really for Satyricon.
Does someone know if a replacement band has been named?

No, not yet. I think it's still a bit too soon to come up with an emergency replacement as solution...
Also wouldn't go for Satyricon alone (but I don't know what Zonaria are bringing).

On a side note, that must have been an epic beard he had there.

Sucks for you. Luckily I got see them on their last day in Canada with 3 Inches Of Blood, and as much as I'd like to comfort you and tell you you aren't missing much, that would be a lie. They are extremely solid live.

Uuy that blows, I was actually at that gig and they played one hell of a show. Knocked both Zonaria and Satyricon out in my opinion.

OK, that makes more sense. at first I thought he just fractured his jaw but now I know there''s more. Its a good idea to pull out (of the tour)

"Luckily his beard absorbed some of the blow."

And people tell me having a beard is a bad thing.

And that sucks even more since I should have seen them at Hellfest this year but they canceled too, and we weren't informed so we were waiting outside the marquee, waiting for nothing... I guess some kind of evil force is prohibiting me from seeing them.

What is it with musicians getting plastered, breaking something, then not being able to play?

Read again... the guy does NOT drink at all.
ArcesseEum - 24.11.2008 at 04:36
He could have been on anything other than alcohol

I have met the guy... and my answer to that would be... no, he wasn't.

People collapsing without having drunk or having used any other substances does happen.
A friend of mine who is cleaner than a straightedger collapsed in the same way as Ol' Drake but was unfortunately not as fortunate as Ol' Drake, he never lived to tell the tale.

I suggest reading this blog first, before saying more things you clearly know nothing about.
