In Flames - Win Swedish Grammy Award

Just like two years ago, In Flames have won a Swedish "Grammi Award" in the Best Hard Rock category, this time for their latest effort "A Sense Of Purpose". This is already the fourth time in five years the band is honoured with such an award (Mustasch won the Award last year). A total of five bands were nominated for their most recent releases, all of which came out during 2008. The nominees were as follows:



The Swedish "Grammis" gala was held on Wednesday night (January 7) at Hovet in Stockholm. In Flames were also nominated for the "Best Live" act. The band also performed the song "Alias" during the ceremony, which was broadcast live on Swedish national channel TV4. Video footage of the acceptance speech (in Swedish) and the performance can be viewed on blabbermouth.

Why do they still mistake metal for hard rock?

Anyway, it's obviously not about the music.

Because in Sweden Metal is called Hårdrock among the people (except Metalheads) which means Hard Rock if you translate it to english. And still Metal is something born out of Hard Rock.

Hard Rock is bullshit. I don't believe metal was born of rock at all, metal evolved from the blues, and so did rock, if anything, rock and metal they're brothers that are often mistaken as the same even though metal > rock.

All of the other nominees were far better albums than 'A sense of purpose'. Even as an In Flames fan I can't listen to that album, it's just awful.

We didn't win the Grammy award this year either and I admit I got a little dissapointed although it doesn't really mean anything. Since I'm there at the show I wanna fucking win! But In flames got it. They're mates of ours so I'm happy for them.

The show was boring as usual, all the same people, same winners, same "surprise" band constellations. Some artists there really have high thoughts of themselves. It's quite embarrassing to see how stuck up some of them are. I mean they don't even have a international career most of them and still they act they're the fucking "deal".

I got completely obliterated on wine and champagne...and beer. My wife too, she got all fucked up. But we had a pretty good time during dinner, chatting and drinking away. The afterparty was at a classic place called Berns and it was packed. We didn't stay for long though.

OK, just letting you know we fucking LOST!

I'm from North america, and you guys are complaining about In Flames winning an award. you do not want to know the bands/artists that are being nominated here.

Lil Wayne is nominated for 8 awards, he raps about money, and the fact that he is a millionaire, and his long hair, its just pathetic how shallow minded it is.

You guys should just be happy that your society can recognize good music. In flames we trust.

By the way, how come in flames sing in English and not Swedish? don't they want to appeal to their origin?
