U.S. death metallers Obituary have completed work on their new album for a tentative May/June release via Candlelight Records. The artwork of the new album can be viewed at this location Vocalist John Tardy states:

"Sorry I have not updated the website in a while. We have been so busy finishing up this new Obituary album and getting ready to leave for Europe in a few days that I just have not had time to do it. The good news is, last night, we finished up the mixing and we are done. It came out really sick and I cannot wait for you guys to hear it... it is heavy! Like I said, we now focus on heading to Europe for our Full of Hate tour that runs pretty much the month of March! It should be a good time and I hope you all can come out and see us."

Yeah...!!! Hope it would be sick enough to remove our brains!!!

If the new album is as good as the last EP and the two original songs on THAT we don't have a problem. The next album will be very good. I see it... I see it, in the future.
joco - 04.03.2009 at 16:46
That new cover is not good enough and it's like the new Amon amarth album cover:S:S:S but Amon is a piece of shit, but Obituary is fuckin brutal, angry death metal:):necro::bow:
Kap'N Korrupt - 04.03.2009 at 16:46
New album and a Canadian tour from Obituary...how sweet it is!
Murder - 04.03.2009 at 19:26

It seems more like power metal xD
But it's good thing they made another album

Contrary to other bands, Obituary is one of the rare bands that I wish they will again repeat themselves and get us the same thing again
waiting for it
White Winter Sun - 05.03.2009 at 01:26
Good news. I'm looking forward to this new album. Also I hope that it will contain the classic Obituary killer sound.

i guess, but if it were a power metal album it'd be waaaaay more ridiculous and over the top. you know, now that i think about it, the cover looks like a Rhapsody (of Fire)'s "Power of The DragonFlame" cover. minus the Rhapsody influence LOL.
Richard - 05.03.2009 at 02:34
Great news, and May/June isn't too long to wait - although I realise that's not exactly set in stone as a definite release date. Hopefully we can rest assured that they've stuck to their trademark sound. I hope there's plenty of variation and contrast between fast aggression and doomy paced morbidity.
Dangerboner - 05.03.2009 at 04:01
Lol the cover looks so power metal, but I still can't wait to hear it

Maybe an Obituary and Manowar split? hehehe, still seems to be a good album.

Same for me.
Compare this to the dark and atmospheric artwork of Cause Of Death or The End Complete.
Even Slowly We Rot had something special...
Now, it's not the artwork that makes an album good so I need to shut up.
Richard - 05.03.2009 at 16:35
It's hard to tell for certain, as the image is quite small, but it looks like the Xecutioner guy from Xecutioners Return slaying the dragon from Frozen in Time, which is sitting on the tree from Cause of Death, and the blood and stuff at the feet of the Xecutioner looks like the cover of the last EP...?
Infurnace - 05.03.2009 at 18:09
The cover art is pretty power metalish indeed, but I kinda like it. Looking forward to hear the new stuff.
Black Conundrum - 06.03.2009 at 06:42
This is excellent news. The cover is cool if you ask me, but I see that metalstorm has been giving the cover mixed reviews. Also, I am eager to hear music off of this album already.
Oracle - 07.03.2009 at 12:57
Can't wait to hear it!! And the album cover is mad.
Paraffin - 07.03.2009 at 18:23

I hope the new album will be as good as the cover illustration.

I don't undrstand. I got the album as a graduation gift. Why does metalstorm say that it hasn't been released yet?

Strange it is already available in Sweden (that's where you live, right?) whereas over here in The Netherlands the release date is the same date as the one we have here at MS (June 30th)

yes sweden is where i live. It is indeed strange that i have the album and somewhat of a luck of the draw, since i am not even an obituary fan. I just got the album as a graduation gift because my brother thought the album front cover looked cool xD

probably the release dates in some countries has changed and MS didn't manage to get informed on that..
