Do you know who was the drummer when you saw them? Was he as good as Derek Roddy?

He left Hate Eternal and has joined some sort of All-Star band with other talented musicians. I don't remember their name or when they're releasing their debut cd.

I read that Derek left the band due to money problems.

Hate Eternal is brilliant.
Wouldn't be able to say my favourite album, but; 'King Of All Kings' might just be my favourite.

Man, I'm currently listening to Conquering the Throne and it's hitting me like a swift kick in the nuts. Conquering the Throne and I, Monarch are incredible albums, but King of All Kings is average I guess.
I just felt like bringing this topic back

I dig these guys but they get a bit boring after awhile. Going super all out bores me after awhile

I always felt that 'Conquering the Throne' has always been Hate Eternal's freshest material. The other two are both very good also, but get repetitive.

^^^^ I still need to acquire Conquering the Throne. I enjoyed the other two releases, though I could cite repetition as a negative quality as well.

Agreed. Conquering is their top CD so far IMO. King of All Kings is their worst, but it's still good. It's all damn brutal though.

Haha, same here! I have been listening to Hate Eternal the past few days and I think Conquering the Throne is just awesome. I, Monarch and King of all Kings are juicy too, but King of all Kings has a crappy production. I still like the songwriting though!

The new album is gonna be great. Seeing as Alex Webster is going to be handling the bass duties and all. Alex can a add a whole lot to a song and he is pretty much 1/4 of the reason why I will get this release.

Yeah dude...Alex Webster is a fucking bass god. I'm not sure how much input he'll have in the songwriting process, but I'd probably cream my pants at the sound of Hate Eternal + walking basslines.

Sounds like brutal old Hate Eternal. On my first listen I can't help but notice the production on the drums, especially the bass, is a little "funny." Perhaps that's just me. The guitars sound a little too "crunchy" and the repeating of the title for the chorus gets repetitive fast. This is just the first listen of one song however, so we'll see. I am planning on seeing them on February 8th, so we'll see if this and their other material fares better live.

On my first listen I enjoyed the insane drumming. And if you see them live soon (and before the album release), give us your impressions about new songs live finally if they play some ones

Well, on my second listening to their new anal pounding track on their myspace, I actually found it a bit refreshing and liked it a lot more than the first time. I just noticed some awesome sounding bass parts around 2:50, it's Webster, so of course. Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing them live and hoping Erik Rutan will make my head metaphorically explode. We'll see.

I'm actually from Missouri, but most of the shows are out in Kansas so I've got to drive out there. Not too far, only about 60 miles.

The new Hate Eternal album is FUCKING BRUTAL. It's by far their best and I can't listen to any other death metal for a while because everything else is slower. The drums kinda overpower everything else, but I don't care because it just makes the wall of sound more devastating. It'll probably be my favorite album of 2008.

Also: They were insane live.
